First - is there any way to use the external screen as a view finder for the camera? Essentially, is there a way to take pictures with the phone closed?

Second - is there any way to get rid of the Verizon Wireless banner on the external screen?

#1....Yes, just hold down the button on the right side of the phone for more than 4 seconds and it turns on the camera mode. You can then take a picture by pressing this button again. You can also turn on the flash by quickly pressing the bottom left side button (the voice dial ativation button).

#2...No

ya, i don't understand the whole banner thing.

if LG made the phone speciffically for Verizon, then why would they even give you the option to change it if they knew it was gonna work!

on the second question, how do u get into video mode with the camera closed?

you can now remove the banner using "Bitpim" and "Winhex"(Google it, Download it)

Step 1 - go to the "Filesystem" tab in Bitpim, scroll down until you see "ERI", save that "ERI BIN"

Step 2 - Make a copy of your original Bin for safekeeping, and right click the one you want to modify, open with "Winhex"

Step 3 - you will see a bunch of code, and the right column will show "Verizon WirelessA Verizon Wireless B.....etc..." now you can actually click on those letters and change them, not the "A and B" at the end of verizon wireless. you can change them to spaces making the banner Be gone!!!

Step 4 - After choosing your Custimized Banner, whether it be blank, or "GETITNOWSUX" go to "File" click on "Save As" save it somewhere you know.

Step 5 - go back into "Bitpim" into the "Filesystem" and into the "ERI bin" Location, Right click, Choose "Overwrite" and then select the BIN you Just Modified.

Step 6 - Restart Phone, Vualla!!! Banner Be Gone

P.S. - a number of LG phones this can be done to, i have done it with the vx-6000, vx-7000, vx-8000, vx6100, and i have heard of many others!

The flaw with the banner change is that if you don't current;y have a -non-roaming plan, this may affect how your phone mightdisplay roaming or extended network. I don't know this to be sure but when you alter the software, you may have other affects that you did not plan. Also, by doing the change described above, you void the warranty.

i left "Roaming" on there, i only changed the Verizon WirelessA and Verizon WirelessB. have not ever had a problem.....and as far as my warranty....LMAO....i blew that away the first day i had the phone....you will realize that most of the things you can do to your phone will destroy your warranty, i would hope smart people were aware of it.

You cant go into video mode thru the outside.

As for the banner, does it remove the front banner too?
