A few days ago, my girlfriend dropped my phone in some water. It worked fine for a while, but then the buttons stopped responding. Soon, I couldn't get it past the following screen, which is white text on a black background, much like MSDOS:
Boot Loader
07.E0
SW Version:
R47_G_08.17.0F
R
OK to Program
Connect USB
Data Cable
I called the company to ask for a replacement, but they said if they found water in the phone I would have to pay a ton of money I don't have. I really need my phone, so any ideas that you guys have would be wonderful.
EDIT: It's a V551, and although I know nothing about this, I'm tempted to think it's the SmartChip in the back of the phone. It has a bit of greenish rust on it, like you find on really old pennies.

There is not much you can do in a situation like this. Have you dissemble and air dry all the components inside?

The v400 is pretty close to a V551; use it as a reference guide.

Is there nothing else I can do? Or anywhere I can take it?

The cost of fixing it depends on the parts that are demage. You can bring it down to a local shop and have them reprise it and determine if it is worth fixing it.

A local shop as in the local Cingular store? I took it there and the man said he had no idea what happened, and he gave me a number to call (800.801.1101).

The phone is going to be toast. You've fried something inside and no matter how dry it gets, it will still be fried. I'd suggest waiting a few days and calling back to Cingular. Let them know the phone just stopped working and you'd like it replaced.

I installed a lighted antenna onto my v300... and it pushed the ring around the antenna inside. Where is a local shop I can go to fix this? I live in Denver colorado
