Hi all,
I'm from Europe and I'll be spending 2 months of my Summer in the US. I recently found out that my Nokia 6100 is also 'US compatible' (1900) and it is also 'unlocked' (I am able to use it for any cellular network in Poland). So my question is: can I simply come to the US, buy some kind of T-Mobile prepaid starter kit, put a sim card into my phone, and just use the prepaid T-Mobile service?
If so, where can I buy such starter kits? On the official webiste I only found deals with phones, which I don't want to spend money on. On eBay I saw a couple, but I'd always prefer to buy one in a store or whatever.
If anyone can answer my questions I would REALLY appreciate it. Thx a whole lot!

Dear pawelc:
Good news..... YES!!! You have done your homework well and you are correct! Simply go into a dealer outlet and purchase a prepaid 'T-Mobile To Go' activation kit, pick your settings from the phone for T-Mobile USA and the 1900 MHz freq .... and you are GOOD TO GO! One final suggestion.... make sure the screen says "T-Mobile" on it, and..... make a test call before you leave the store, okay???
Oh, and by the way.... if you're coming to South Florida, then you need to get this from me!!! Just kidding. Any authorized dealer will do.
Happy travels,
Wayne

Thanks for the info man.
I'd be happy to visit sunny Florida, but you'll havr to wait, cause this time I'll be around NYC. Maybe next time, then I'll be sure to find your store and get something.
Thx again.

oh btw. could you please tell me how much one of these starter kits costs? I know the prices for the refill cards, but have no idea how much I'll have to pay for the starter.

Old Fool is pretty much in the ballpark on the price for the activation kit, sounds about right to me. And T-Mobile To Go refill is now this:
$10 card = 30 minutes good for 30 days
$25 card = 130 minutes good for 30 days
$50 card = 400 minutes good for 90 days
Once you spend a total of $100 in refill airtime (it just recently changed from $250!!! ) you automatically get on what is called 'Gold Rewards' which gets you extra minutes and your refill coupons don't expire (unless used up, of course) for an entire year! Well, that's about it for now.
Regards,
Wayne
