I don't know any other way beside getting a data cable and smartmoto software. The program can view your security code and sim lock code as well as other info.

I've downloaded the SmartMoto software and I have the same problem re the security code, but I can't see how I would get into the linux file to obtain the code - can you direct me please ?

Mike,
i have been using a different phone for some time now. but i am sure that i have made a note of the file in which the security code is stored. i will let you know as soon as i find it. there aren't many files on the moto. if you can look around by grepping for the security string, you will find it. telnet to the moto to do all this.

that's excellent dogdiga - i forgot to mention that i've got a v600, but i guess it'll be in the same place. I'm very pc literate, but not so much with mobile, so what do you mean by "grepping for the security string, you will find it. telnet to the moto to do all this."
thanks again, speak to you soon
