Hi,
Kinda a novice at this, but catch on real quick. My wife just got a Unlocked Motorola V690. It is working in terms of sending and recieving calls and text messages, but we can't really do much else with the phone. Can't send or offload any pictures.
We called Motorola and they won't help and pretty much said to take the phone back as it won't work here.
We called Roger's and they won't help.
We went back to the store and they won't help.
So I figured I would try to help my wife as she loves the phone and try out some boards to see if anyone knows how to set this phone to fully function on the Rogers Network here in Canada. She want the browser to work to get ringtones and send pictures and so forth.
I see a lot of info about manually configuring this phone, but have no idea where to start and no one seem to want to help us.
Thanks,
D

For starters, did you sign up for internet service with Rogers?

Oh, ya have the SIM card activated and the phone is in use. We have the software installed and wanted to offload pictures and that is when we started to find our problems. The software seemed to install fine, but it never initializes.
You bring up an interesting point though. I used to have a data access plan for my phone, but no longer have that and I know on mine I can't just go get on the web, but it does ask me if I agree to pay a certain amount.
Are you thinking we should get a data package added on to her line and see if it just starts working? Would that explain why we can't use the software and USB hook up through the computer also?
Thanks,
-D

The software is another issue to upload/download files from phone. The package I was refering to would enable you to browse the Internet. Rogers would have known if you have sign up for it or not.
For myself, I have Cingular and I did sign up for 'media package'. It is a monthly service I pay to have Internet access through my phone. There maybe a plan with Rogers where you pay-as-you-go. The service itself may need to be turned on as well with them.
What software do you have currently and is not working for you?

Software and usb is different matter.
What software do you have Mobile Phone Tool? if so what verson? if not 3.23 then you need to do live update. Take care of all that then post back will take the next step, but normaly after update it will work fine.

Thanks, I will get the software details and try the update and post back with the results. I will also talk to Rogers about what the plan my wife has offers.

Ok I have updated the software. Current Version is now 3.23. I am running XP by the way and it goes through the process to set the phone up as a Modem on COM1, but I get a Warning at the end that it has not passed the "Windows Logo Testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP". Do I dare accept
I really don't care if it acts as a Modem so if that is all the software does I don't know if it is worth the effort. My wife just wants to get her pics off the camera. We can't seem to do that with the software and we tried by sending a pic through the phone to another person and that fails "Sending Failed...Connection Failed".
Any suggestion on what to do next?
Thanks for you suggestions so far.

Click accept, yes or proceed. It won't hurt anything.

Ok, did that and went through the rest of the steps, but it still just sits in the "Initializing" state. Eventually it comes up with an error and a dialog "mobile Phone Tolls is unable to communicate with your phone".
1.) The Phone is on
2.) No Blue Tooth
3.) It is set to V690
4.) Other devices could be using the communcation port, but I am not sure how to verify that.
Thanks,
