I just got my V551 yesterday and am already having some difficulties. I figure the easiest way will be to list the problems and if anyone can help please post back. Once, again thank you very much for your time.

The first problem i noticed was during personalizing my phone, the SKIN feature does not work- when i select either Techno, Neon, or Moto (which seems to be the only one that works because that was the default) the screen will go black, then white, then sort of restart the phone to where it says no service then about 5 seconds later it will go back to normal but w/ no skins ever being changed.

Second: When recording video i can't seem to get it to last over 6 seconds.

Third: i was also wondering if it is possible to stamp the time/date into a picture and/or video clip.

Fourth: As far as ringtones... this phone only comes with a very very limited amount- am i just not finding the correct feature to get me into the rest or ...?

Fifth: Oh yes, and i can't seem to find this so called "already installed" picture program that allows you to add clipart, etc.

and finally, off subject, does anyone know of red motorola phone?

Thanks again!

Well. No one is responding, so here goes.

Can't help you with the skin problem, but I've heard about that "white screen" issue. I would take it back and get a new phone if that is a possibility.

With the video, go into the video capture screen, where you're using the screen as a viewfinder, and push the menu button. Then, go to video setup, and change the length from MMS, to Maximum.

Third, I don't think that's possible.

Fourth, what do you mean by very limited. You mean like just a couple? Or quite a few, but they all suck?
If you connect your phone to your computer, via bluetooth, you can drag mp3's or MIDI files into the "audio" folder that appears when you do a "file transfer". They should then be useable for ringtones.

Fifth, I've heard of this also, but haven't used it yet, so can't help you on that.

Lastly, never heard of a red motorola phone.

Hope that helps at least a bit.

The skins can only be changed when you start up your phone.

When you first power it on it will ask you if you would like to personalize just say yes and change the skin.

Jblaze, I believe you are mistaken. I can change my all around as many times as I want, all the time. They just pause for a second, then appear.

You don't have to start up your phone or anything like that.

Don't know the answer, but would like to know it. Where did you hear about or read about the picture program?

Also, one can create video, audio, and picture files on the 551 and transfer them to an ipaq (2215) using BT. The picture files are jpg format and can viewed on the ipaq with its graphics viewer. Does anyone know of a utility that will allow one to play video and audio files from the 551 on an ipaq 2215?

I have the same problem with the skins issue. When I first got my phone a couple of weeks ago, I changed the skin from moto to techno. It seems to work fine, but then I tried to change to neon and it would only go black and then restart the phone - same thing trying to change back to Moto. The only way I could get it to go back to Moto was to do a Master Reset on the phone. That did it and I haven't touched it since.

I think we have the old S/W verson the AA not BA so that is one of the bug and because we turn off that anoying feature that keep asking to personalize very time you turn on fone so now the only thing left to make it change is to do like you did master reset
