Dear Racer:
It all depends on whether or not you have already completed 11 months or more on your current T-Mobile contract. If so, the the answer is YES, you automatically qualify for an upgrade as long as your bill is paid and up-to-date. And you also qualify for any rebates (if available) as well. Simply call Customer Care by dialing '611' from your handset and tell them what you want to do, okay? If my cohort (Samsung) replies to this, he will be able to verify all of this.... we pretty much work in tandem on issues like this
Best regards,
Wayne

Yep Wayne is right.... Its 11 months of ACTIVE service. What I mean by ACTIVE IS:
no Non-Pay Suspensions of anykind (non-pay ladex etc..)
or voluntary Suspends (seasonal, lost or stolen etc..)
The way it works... or so I have come to learn is that if you have lets say 1 ladex suspend (ladex is a suspend when you are late on your bill and I believe it bars outgoing calls but you can still receive) in Jan, then the entire month of Jan doesnt count towards your 11 months of eligibility. However multiple suspends in 1 month just take that one month away not multiple months. I know this sounds alittle harsh but T-Mobile allows you to upgrade every 11 months as long as your good on your bill not NEW EVERY TWO like some other service providers . Other things that may reset your eligibily are MSISDN or mobile number changes & or Rate plan changes but you do not get penalized for this because the CC rep will be able to escalate to a supervisor for you to have the upgrade put through. But yeah thats how its works

oh and then you have the whole qualifying rate plan deal. You have to be on a 39.99$ for individual or 69.99$ for pooling or higher to qualify

and oops sorry so many stipulations that keep slipping my mind... Like wayne said you need to be current to place the order and if you are on a smartaccess account be ready to pay with credit card up front. Order can be done at dealer if you do not have credit card and dont like to wait for shipping.... I think thats it.
