you are but heres the thing. with cingular you are aloud to roam but you are not gharged for it! its that simple!

haha yeah I got a new v551 and was pleased to see the little edge icon in the top left hand corner. I didn't know what this meant at the time, but I thought.
"Hey, it looks a lot cooler.
And I'm still on a digital-based network.
Therefore it must be better."

However, the new v551s also lose the opcode trick as seen in the sticky on motorola talk...

I'm not so sure about it being that much better. My wife's phone has the "edge", and it isn't noticably faster than mine. We both have 551's but hers is new and therefore has the cooler icon, which from what I can tell is the only advantage. I'll probably draw all kinds of fire from flexers and flashers stating data to the contrary, but I'm just a normal "stock" phone user and I cannot notice any diff. between my "old" 551(I bought it in Dec) and my wife's new 551. Oh well I'd still like to have the cool looking icon. Ok guys open fire ~!
