There is a song I desperately want on my phone and I can't find it in any of the ring tone programs on get it now, so I wanted to put it on there myself. I have been ready all the posts and working on this for about the past 5 hours and can't figure out how to get it right.
I don't have the cable cord that some people are talking about and I didn't want to wait to order it, so I tried emailing the song to myself. On the vzw site, it would not let me send a message in .mp3 or .mid, only .wav which of course is too big to send to my phone.
So then I went into my email program and sent it to (my number)@vzwpix.com and had the attachment in midi format. I received the message but my phone said "failed to play pix msg."
Then I read somewhere that someone sent a ringtone in mp3 format, so I tried that. I recieved the message and it actually played, but it was real muffled. (like when someone talks way to close to the receiver)
Is this how it is suppose to come out? I have already downloaded a song from sony music box and it good quality. Earlier I used the "record new" option under tones to record the piece of the song I wanted from a CD and it even came out clearer (not as clear as the sony song, since most recordings never are). It wasn't too loud though, and that is when I started looking for ways on here to get the song on my phone.
How good is the song suppose to sound when you upload it yourself? You can hardly even make out the words to the song I sent myself, is that right??? Any suggestions?

when you sent it in midi format, did you change the file extension to .mid or .midi? I tried putting Metallica's One on my 7000 as an mp3, but thought that bass drum was gonna blow my speaker, so after trying to encode it in a lower volume, which then sounded like crap, i changed the original .mp3 i had tried before to a .mid, sent it using my gmail account to myphone#@vzwpix.com, and it worked like a charm, sounds great. It could also be whatever program your using to edit/encode your mp3 with. Im using Audacity and once i finally figured out how to use it, its worked everytime.

I tried sending it in .mid format, but it said "failed to play pix msg."
The only luck I had was when I sent it in .mp3 format, and that is when it came out all muffled.
Is there a way to send it in .mid format without it "failing" to play?
I even tried two different programs that were both recommended on here: sony sound forge and wavepad.

Dont really know what to tell you. I open the file in Audacity, select the 30 seconds of the mp3 i want, cut it, open a new Audacity window, paste, change bit rate to 24, usually its already at 44hz, then i export it to my ringtone folder. Change the extension to .mid, and send it as an attachment to my#@vzwpix.com using my gmail account. Ive never had one fail on me yet. I just sent about 8 tonight. Only suggestions i have is try taking the battery off for about 5 seconds, then turn your phone back on before you try again. Or make sure your inbox or pix gallery isnt full. Other then that im pretty much outta ideas.

As for me I want to try emailing my self ringtones because i do want some Rock ringtones but like hard core stuff. I usually record my ringtones and they come out pretty good but i can only get hip hop ringtones cuz with other stuff it comes out muffled.
