I didnt think you could use a POP3 client to check hotmail? Well except for OE. I'm not sure that it's possible.

Sure you can use your Hotmail, but you will have to receive and send mails using the SMS service. Checkout MSN Mobile at sms.mobile.msn.com

Actually you'd be better off using mobile.msn.com and logging in via wap. You get more info on screen. And its a lot cheaper than SMS, you are charged for the length of email etc, not just text message rates.

If it's cheaper or not may be specific for different SP's and/or countries. My SP doesn't even support Hotmail, but other SP's here charge the same rate for Hotmails and SMS, independent of the length of the mail.

Check your MSN in your country for details about which SP's that support Hotmail.

One potential problem you should consider using Hotmail is the possibility of getting spammail to your mobile. You may end up paying for getting these spam to your mobile! icon_twisted.gif
Maybe you could set spam filters to reduce the risk, but that is not always 100% proof.

I found this post a little while ago.

Quote:
Server for hotmail and yahoo

Connect using: Your wap provider
Protocol: IMAP or POP, both work (I prefer POP)
Inc. Server: 195.137.42.7
Incoming Port: Default
Mailbox: your hotmail or yahoo e-mail address (@hotmail.com)
Password: your password for hotmail or yahoo
Outgoing server: 195.137.42.7
Outgoing Port: Default
E-mail Address: your hotmail or yahoo e-mail address (@hotmail.com)
Download: Headers+Text -----------------------

The server is based in the UK, but have had reports that it works with the US as well. Completely free.

Hope this helps,
Cheers,
NeoCORE

Apparently it works, but I don't have an email client on my phone, so if someone could report back and let us know if it works?

As for the spam email problem, that can be solved by setting the email client to just download headers. I think this is possible in the t610. Usually, spam is very identifiable by the subject line. The cost of downloading these headers is negligble.
