You basically can not use the phone. It is locked to the carrier t-mobile and tmobile does not unlock sidekicks anymore. You can try to contact the, but without being a tmobile customer you are not going to get far.

Ok, my problem is not technically a problem, but I would like to know if it is possible. Is there a way to remove the lovk that T Mobile USA put on the sidekick II to stop it from saving attachments? I sent myself some ringtones, but I can only listen to them with the e-mail open, I can not save them. Thanks alot!

Attachments are stuck in the email program. Only pictures can be saved elseware via the usa of a program from the catalog called picture transfer. Anything else that you want saved elsewhere can not be. To not have attachments come in with you emails, go to settings and there is an option to check.

If you buy a Sidekick, T-Mobile will not unlock it. It is exclusive to T-Mobile's network and it was the policy before I left that Sidekicks are not able to have SIM Unlock requests submitted due to that. Unless something changed (call them since they are the ones who submit the requests), I would be VERY sketchy about buying 'unlocked' versions anywhere else or even trying to use them on another network since the data goes through T-Mobile it's almost pointless. Just switch, get the new customer discount on it and enjoy lol.

There is a few people on ebay that are offering unlocking services. I found one that says they can give you directions to unlock your phone on your own. Says there is an 85% success rate, w/e that means. But for $10 it may be worth giving a try. Who knows. If you are interested in this auction the link is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150061341246
Good luck

Be careful not to screw your phone up doing that as I think it would void the warrenty.

The tmobile stand where I bought it (Sawgrass Mall) assured me it was simlockfree and would work with my sim from the Netherlands. After calling several times with customer service I finally found out it will take 90 days before I receive the code to unlock it. WHY??? I even went and bought a prepaid tmobile (US) sim so it could be unlocked; that was one of the options I got from a customer service rep. I payed another $50 for that and it still doesn't work. Can someone please help me with this? Is there another way to get the phone unlocked (like now)? |
Did they ever send you the code? |
