I got PKMAN and i used the new drivers to get my V551 working. MPT works perfectly, but everytime I start up PKMAN it removes my phone at "MODEM" and creates a USB COMPOSITE DEVICE with a ! saying its not working.

It is USB but it removes it under modem. Places it under the USB connections with "USB COMPOSITE DEVICE" but only when PKMAN is running. If pkman isnt running i can use MPT.

And i did it with and without the copy the new P2k drivers in the DRV folder.

Should have work, but PST or P2kman can not run at the same time with MPT due to comport and modem sharing conlfict.

My phone still gets that USB COMPOSITE DEVICE ERROR.

I'm not the only one to have this problem, I searched yahoo came up with many problems, tried many solutions to no avail.

I can get mobile phonetools to work PERFECTLY. Access my phone and upload everything. BUT, everytime I run PK2MAN or PST is switches my MOTORLA V551 under MODEMS to USB COMPOSITE DEVICE. This is for both PK2MAN and PST 7 general.

One subject told me to edit the registry turning usbccgp to usbhub. UNFORTUNATELY. I can't seem to edit these values manually and it says that they couldn't edit it without getting P2KMAN or PST to work. I have PST, p2kman and MPT.

Unfortunately, Only one works and it cant be used to upload games to my
phone.

ANY guesses would be great. Or a new program that I do not know. Don't bother with motorola's midway it doesn't work with USB. Needs serial connection.

Dont bother with turning on software then PLUGGING in modem (all it does is change it to USB composite device after) or telling me to manually direct the driver search to the P2K folder, or any other folder. I've tried them all they never find a driver for USB COMPOSITE DEVICE.

I read one of the subjects on another forum by using yahoo search telling me to upgrade to SP2, but then I found out other users had SP2 and it didn't work for them nor did upgrading to SP2 work for them.

Any ideas?

This is a notice on the installation requirements of
MIDWAY from MOTOCODER.COM (i believe the official site for motocoder)

• A Java-enabled Motorola P2K phone
• The MIDway.exe application (located in the SDK_DIR)
• Serial data sync cable (USB sync cables do not work with MIDway)
• JAR and JAD files

I only have USB.

smart moto does the EXACT same thing pkman and PST. It removes my motorola phone v551 under modems to USB composite device and stops working. Strange enough, I can still use MPT.

And you are switching from M.P.T. why? If you said it works perfectly, why change. Do the other programs do something that MPT doesn't?

mpt doesnt allow the uploading of games. Just allows you to take the pictures/sounds/movies from your phone.

Anyways, i think this problem has to do something with my crazy computers settings.

Figured it out
I needed windows xp USB 2.0 update for mobile devices.

"kb838989" that update

My Windows XP didn't have USB 2.0 for non-direct devices like tablet PCs. When I ran PKMAN or PTS. It would search the USB for the device, but WINDOWS didn't automatically search for the device. It'd just check to see if it was plugged in not if the device was actually there (non direct). Like as if it were a USB mouse checking just to see if its plugged in.

For future references search for it on the microsoft webpage.

Now it has created a new issue of problems. My phone no longer comes up as a "modem". I have these 4 usb things installed. But it just doesnt appear under modem. PKMAN works now, but midway still doesnt work. MPT does. Is there another program besides midway that can upload games?

Nevermind, I unplugged my phone and DIDN'T run PST/PKMAN. To install the phone drivers I have to unplug the USB from the computer then run plug it in and run PKMAN/PST to get the driver installation, then unplug the phone itself then plug it back (WITHOUT PKMAN/PST running) in to get it at the "modem" setting.
