Fortunately my contract with T-Mobile is now up. I have a phone that will not allow me to stay connected no matter where I am. T-Mobile replaed it once. I called last week and was offered a free upgrade to one of two different phones. I asked if I could think about it. She said yes..and to call whenever I decided. I called yesterday to make the free upgrade as promised. They retrieved the information from my conversation with last week, but she had not put the specfics down. They refuse to do anything with me and this phone. This came from a supervisor stating he can't upgrade a phone at no charge, even if I renew my contract.
The coverage is terrible. I switched from AT&T, which had great coverage, but they charged me for long distance when I was in AZ. Over $150.00. I called AT&T before I left and upgraded my plan so it would cover calls to and from AZ from Minnesota. When I got the bill from AT&T I called and was told it is not their responsibility for errors made by their employees. I owed the money. I sent them the email with the confirmation information, but they still refused. Overall...I feel AT&T has the worst customer service, but the best coverage. T-Mobile has terrible customer service and equally terrible coverage. I live in the Twin Cities and regardless of where I am I cannot get covereage. My daughter and son-in-law both have T-Mobile and have the same problems with customer service and coverage. My son-in-law was able to upgrade free of charge so I guess it depends on who you talk to.
Anyway...I am at a loss right now as to who to go to. I like the Sanyo PM-8200 phone from Sprint. Any suggestions?

I dont know... I would check each providers webstite (they should all have some kind of coverage map) and make an educated choice from there. I have talked to some sprint employees before and they themselves told me there CC isnt that great (just thought I would give you a head up if you are expecting great CC especially after T-Mobile which is suppose to be #1). Either way Good Luck!!

Thankyou for your help. I spoke with a T-Mobile employee at one of their stores. He showed me his phone, the Sanyo 8200 and said he is with Sprint...lol. He said the coverage with Sprint is not nearly what Verison's is, but much better than T-Mobile and that his experience is that their customer service is better than T-Mobile. He also liked Cingular, now that they've taken over AT&T. He stated once his contract is up with Sprint, he will be going with Cingular. He said he was once with AT&T and hated their customer service so much, he ended up paying the early term. fee just to get away from them. I asked him why he works at a T-Mobile exclusive store and was told..."It's a job". My daughter and son-in-law have also switched carriers. One went with Verison and the other with Cingular. I did check the coverage map as you suggested and although it isn't the best, it is supposed to cover my area. T-Mobille was supposed to cover it as well, but that didn't work out. This man said that flip phones do not have as good a receieption as the standard phones. I then went into Radio Shack and asked them what their opinion was. They agreed Verison has the best coverage, but not the greatest customer service. One of the employees is with Sprint and loves it. I guess it is all individualistic and situational...if that doesn't sound too redundant...lol. Thanks again.

No problem there is a carrier out there for everyone lol. If I was not going to choose a GSM carrier (I LOVE GSM) then I would personally go with Verizon over Sprint. GOOD LUCK!!

Don't get sprint ... I am paying my way out of the contract just to get away from them. every other month I have to argue charges I did not make . this month for example my bill that should of been $65. with tax is $140. they say I went over my minutes witch I am always very careful of. when I first signed up they charged two deposits to my bank card ( I only got one phone) I have never been able to get a refund. I have heard great things about verizon. unfortunately I do not have them in my area. I have heard pretty good things about mobile who I signed up with today until I started reading this forum...lol ( just my luck) anyway good luck on getting a good provider. I have had problems with every cell phone company I have ever had. another negative on sprint I paid for the insurance in case my phone was lost or broke, my screen went out on my phone this past week . When I signed up for the insurance I was under the impression they would replace my phone with no extra charge NOPE! WRONG! they told me to get a replacement phone I would have to pay an additional $80. I told them where to take there contract. I also had problems with them 5 years ago . I highly recommend to not go with them.
