Check if Nokia PC Suite is compatible with Mac. If it is, then everythings fine. If not, then you could use a memory card reader [external or internal] to transfer files however you can not access the main phone system such as installing applications etc.

Thanks. Just checked and it looks it is not compatible with mac. I'll have to go the route of the card reader instead unless anyone else can suggest something....

Mac isn't that phone friendly (that's why a friend of mine will buy a normal PC instead of Mac next time). Some phone are supported by iSync, but not the 6230.
Get a cardreader

you can use PhoneDirector http://www.macmedia.sk/ instead. it costs 29.95 to register it but seems like it works tho. tried the cheap way out by using Virtual PC and installing PC Suite but it still will not see the phone and cable. may have to swallow the 29.95 after all. as far as the MMC i just use the card reader (SD card reader as they both work) i already have and drap mp3 in there! sweet!!!

It is a little confusing to use the bluetooth but it works once you get the hang of it. Use a cable if you have it.

i just bought a 1gb mmc card for my nokia 6230. my ibook was able to read it, but the phone couldn't. i formatted the card using disk utility on my ibook, and now neither the computer nor the phone can see it. the phone keeps telling me that it's not formatted, but when i format it, it still gives a message saying that it's not formatted.
any advice.

dont know what to tell u. got a 1gb mmc card too off ebay and it works like a charm in my 6230. i use a usb reader and itunes to drag and drop files to it. phone takes a while to register all the songs on the card (cuz size of card) but works good once it has registered. it basically is my ipod shuffle.
