Hello all! I've been reading the posts here for some time, but haven't needed to register and ask for help until now. Hope someone can give me an answer.
I've been using a Siemens S56, but, it's starting to go wierd on me. So, I just purchased a new Nokia 6010 phone on Ebay from a reputable cell phone dealer. I charged the phone up and put my SIM card in, but, it brought up a "phone restricted" message. It asks for a restriction code, but, I don't have one. I've never even used a restriction code. Is the phone locked or am I doing something wrong? I called Cingular and explained the problem. They said that there was a problem with the phone. Only thing is, it's brand new! Never been used! It was originally for AT&T, but, it's supposed to be unlocked and compatible with Cingular.
Obviously, I'm not too tech-savvy when it comes to cell phones. That's why I don't get anything too fancy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

do a google search on "Nokia 6010 SIM unlock" (copy and paste with the quotes)... you will need your IMEI number...its inside the phone on the label under the battery look for IMEI (a 15 digit number) and write it down... follow the instructions... there are several sites that it is free...

Thanks elmo and hammi!
I did Google and found a place that provides the codes, so, we'll see if they can help. I'll report back when something happens.

Just an update on the code. About an 10 minutes after asking for help on one of the Googled websites, the code was provided and it works like a charm!
If anyone is looking for the same help, e-mail me and I'll let you know where to go. Thanks folks!

noting that your service provider is O2 I think I can safely assume you are in the UK...service providers there maintain a list of lost or stolen IMEI #'s... that list in the USA is not maintained
