Hi all, I just received this awesome phone and have been reading the posts on this forum but am a bit confused with firmware issues. So here goes:
Firstly, I noticed that when I typed an sms afetr 70 keystrokes it went to 'message 2' what the?? the manual states that it has a capacity of 918!! Can I get around this as I don't want to be charged the price of 2 or 3 sms for a standard message!!
Also, I believe that I can flash my phone to V200...am I correct in thinking this? If so can you please point me to the firmware download.
My current firmware is as follows:
V20XXWA2
V20XEWC2
is there an update to this?
Apologies for the long post but I want to maximise the potential of this great phone!!
Thanks in advance....

Well I can't exactly answer your first question as I am not using the same firmware as you are, and different firmware has/allows different capabilities.
At the moment, I think I am able to have about 150+ characters before it turns into 2 msgs.
Secondly, if you followed Mr.Q 's sticky post to flash your phone, then you have successfully updated the firmware, because Mr.Q provided version V20XXWC2.
There are other versions on the web at the moment, but whether or not it will work for your phone is a different story...
Cheers

iblue thanks for the info...I haven't flahsed my phone as yet and I believe that the firmware that you are talking about (Mr Q's) is different to mine V20XXWC2 as opposed to V20XEWC2. Is Mr q's a newer version??
aznlndaghett0, thank you too but I am confused. Is this the site you are talking about and if not why won't you share???
thanks

My apologies ... V20XXWC2 is the same as V20XEWC2, I just tend to type it differently
There is also a C3 & C4, but the C4 is T-mobile branded at the moment, and C3 is working fine ...

thanks iblue...I suppose the issue with my phone at the moment is the very, very limited character quota on sms.....just to re-cap....I do have the same flash file as the one that is 'on offer' on Mr Q's sticky, and this is pretty much the latest??...sorry
don;t know why aznlndaghett0 posted that reply but if you are watching I'm step ahead of you....does gsm-forum ring a bell and the language Russian?????....think again B4 posting meaningless replies!!!!
thanks iblue

As far as I know, different country offers different firmware with the V200, becoz obviously some service providers provide services that other providers don't, therefore, they would need a different firmware ...
I can't say which version is newest (maybe), but one would think that the C3 is newer then the C2, and the C4 is even newer ... but for some reason, the C4 is branded with the T-mobile logos.
On the other hand, you've got a different set of firmwares, e.g... E2,E5,E8 ... but the E8 is one real BUGGER !!
