I am currently shopping around for a new cell phone and have been looking at the LG VX4700. I was wondering if anyone out there had any suggestions or reviews about this phone and the Push to Talk service it's supposed to support. It is my understanding that the original Push to Talk phone for Verizon was a complete bust and had many problems. I'm hoping that the new phone will function just as well as the Nextel walkie talkie service. Any help is appreciated.
-Thanks

Yes I have it with 2 others in our family, I think it works great...was right next to a Nextel phone and the PTT was just as fast .....I love all the features of the phone and the speakerphone is very clear, the voice commands while driving is geat!

the original PTT wasn't really bad but did have a bit of altency (about 2+ seconds) but is now down to a fraction of a second. the only difference is that you previously got a 'presence' feature that is no longer available. the presence thing was just a reference in your contasct list that allowed for you to look at the list and see who is power on and ready to receive. the new PTT removed that and was a decent part of the reason the service is so much faster. no one seems to miss it and was quite a network resource drain. now it work really, really well.
the 4700 is a neat phone and it is working out well so far. i've heard minor complaints about the PTT button plavement but moreso that they had to get used to not messing with the button when on a standard voice call. speaker quality is really unbeleivable.
one of the great PTT features for verizon is that you don't have to have dedicated numbers for voice and PTT functions seperately.
so far so good.........

I have an LG VX4700 and it is really durable and much better than the first PTT V60p. The PTT is as good as nextel just a 2-4 sec delay but no big deal, also alot better coverage than nextel

The delay isn't the same everywhere. I've seen my friends PTT phone next to a nextel, and the reaction was just as fast if not the same. It was maybe a second or half a second.
