there is no option for Gateway IP and speed. Looks like I need to set up a new access point for GPRS. The menu looks like this
Data bearer - gprs or data call
Access point name
User name
Prompt password - yes or no
Password
Authentication - secure or normal
Home page
phone IP - automatic or ip address
Primary and secondary name server
proxy serve address
Proxy port number

The Panasonic x700 uses the same networking files as the Nokia 6600. So, I find it's best to setup your x700 with the Nokia Phone Settings webpage. Use the settings for the Nokia 6600, since the x700 won't be at Nokia's site.
Hi, I too have a X700 and am having problem with setting up Cingular GPRS. I tried the website above, but instead of receiving the configuration smart SMS, I receive a series (4 to be exact) of garbled text SMS messages, which appears to be the raw configuration files, that don't do anything.
Any idea how to fix this?
Thansk,
Eric

Can you try that website again and see if the messages still come back in garbage characters.
FYI: I recently tried using a Cingular account with the x700 and I was unable to get Cingular Express to work. However, the T-Mobile Internet and AT&T mMode had no problems.
If all else fails, tell me your provider and I can look up the proper settings for you when I get the time.

I just tried the Browser Setup tool a few times more, and I still get the garbage message. Actually, the message isn't entirely garbage; it contains some bits and pieces of the setting.
Interestingly, the MMS Setup tool did work once (and once only) out of many tries; the other times it behaves the same as Browser setup (i.e. sending text message rather than configuration message).
Anyway, if you could find me a working setting for Cingular that would be great; since I've spent an entire afternoon trying out different settings I found on the web.
