Oh man, I had the same exact problem a few weeks ago...and JUST NOW. I even tried formatting my computer, reinstalling the program, rebooting, etc. Nothing worked...until now.
I FINALLY figured it out. Not sure if it will work 100% but here goes.
First, make sure you have all the drivers installed (usb irda, phone modem, etc.).
Then, go into your device manager to find the COM port that the modem is installed under (mine was COM5). Go into your setup menu and change the port to COM5 (if it already is on the right one, change it to irda, then change it back). You'll have to type in "COM5" though since it wasn't listed in my options. It will either work now or you have to change it again to irda. Once it's correct, and you close that window, it should automatically connect your phone.
Hope it works. I JUST did it again (because I plugged it in and it didn't work AGAIN) and it worked! Cool!!!
Now...anyone wanna tell me how to delete ringtones or backgrounds? I'm having a hell of a time uploading more files. It keeps saying my memory is full. What should I do?

I am at my wits end! Do you have to connect through the modem (easygprs wizard) for the easygprs to recognize the phone? My com port is set on com1 for both the pc and the software. I'm using a serial data cable that worked fine to flash my phone from v205 to v200.
When I open the wizard and click on connect I get the error modem not responding,,, I am using my pc with dsl not a laptop but I cannot get the software to find my phone?? HELP!!

I would recommend removing your phone modem from your system properties and then having it redetect it. I'm not too sure how serials work but for USB, you just plug the device back in and it automatically redects it. I believe you would have to reboot and it'll redetect automatically but make sure you have your phone plugged in (I had a serial port before for my Nokia phone). Also try to turn off and turn back on your phone.
Once your phone modem is reinstalled, then open the program and mess with the com port settings. Maybe type in "serial" and it will work? Let me know what happens.

Aaaaaarrrrggghh! I am at my wits end and am ready to launch the phone through the window! The T100 was so easy, why does this have to be so awkward?? The book I got with the phone from Orange was crap, as it gives no explanation about the GPRS and uploading/downloading at all. I'm also a novice at this so any replies will be greatly appreciated.
Due to lack of info, I'll have to go through all the simple questions first. Does the phone have to be switched on or not? Does it have to be open? Which way should the switch be on the cable, Data or D/L? Also, each time I close the programme I get the message: EasyGPRS has caused a problem with Easycomm.dll which will now close etc, etc.
PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!

My serial cable don't have the option of Data/DL that you guys are talking about... I bought my serial data cable on ebay.
Is it the wrong data cable? Also do I have to have mine flashed to V200 before using Easy GPRS? I'm also having trouble flashing the phone... Someone help me!

You should get an infrared USB adapter instead. It helps a LOT. You don't have to shut down your computer everytime you try to fix it. It automatically detects it. You just have to choose something like COM1. Then go back and choose USB (or irDA). It should work the second time. If not, try restarting the program.
Good luck.

I've only had my v200 2 days and i'm getting really angry with trying to link it to my pc. I've tried 3 different computers with different operating systems (ME, 98 and XP PRO) and i'm getting the same result from each.
After installing the easyGPRS software i shutdown the pc, connect my phone and re-start. When i run the software it just acts as though the phone isn't connected. The phone is connected and i've got a white screen showing on it.
I've tried earlier suggestions of changing the COM ports (on all 3 pcs) and that doesn't work either.
Could it be i've got a dodgy lead or am i overlooking something really simple.
Please help. |
