I would like to use my V551 cell phone and BT dongle as a modem for my laptop computer. I am using cinglual service provider, but to this point have avoided buying the OEM wireless switchgear. Can it be done with standard service???

Any help would be nice!

Thanks,

Christophor

The reqs are just to have BT or USB, then you must have WAP activated on your plan. After that I think you just need MPT and the modem configured correctly. Then you should be all set. Any questions don't be afraid to ask.

Guys, I am new to this V551 . I have heard through some friends that I can in fact use this phone as a Modem to connect to the internet via my Laptop. I have a newer laptop with XP Home/Personal. What do I need to buy for this and where can I buy them? My isp is AOL. Will this make a difference? I am not a computer geek, especially when it comes to configuring weird things like this. Thanks for any help.Keith

You may want to try your question over in the appropriate service provider talk forums here, i.e. cingular, etc.

You are going to have to subscribe to a wireless plan from your cell phone provider. It's expensive, and airtime is sold by the KB, so don't surf too much!
