Hello there...lovely forum you got going here....I need a little help.
I just got a Motorola E398 and in going through the phone tools software, I have a big problem with teh fact that it creates a separate entry for each person's email, mobile, home, work, etc. Is there a way (or is there any third party software) too combine these entries into one? It's quite annoying to have four (or more) separate entries for one person.
I used to have an MPX200 and one of the things I liked about it was that the contacts were based off on MS Outlook. Is there anything out there similar to that?

If you re upload it to your phone is it the same as the pc? Or does it re-group them. If not check the contact is stored to phone not sim.

thanks for responding...
It stores the contacts to the phone and not the sim...that's not the problem.
I'd like the contacts to be grouped together for each entry....for example, the phone has an entry for 'John Doe' email, 'John Doe' home, and 'John Doe' mobile....I'd like for it to have one entry for 'John Doe' and then when I view the entry, show all the different numbers, email addresses etc. From what I can tell there's no way to do that. I created new categories, but if you move someone's contact to a new category, it moves all the information to that category...so when I created an email category and put one of my contacts email address into it, the phone also moved that persons other info (mobile, home number) to the email category.
It's quite frustrating...

I see...what format are you using? They have 2 formats I think that you can save your contacts to...They have outlook and the standard MPT one...If it is set to outlook then I really don't know whats up with that...Check the settings and let me know...

when i installed the MPT it just grabbed all my contacts directly from outlook (which i thought was great at first).
i wasn't aware that you could specify the format and i don't know how to check which format it's in. how do you determine which format it's in? the manual seems to be helpless (as is the help file in MPT).
i also tried to create and import a .dbf file from outlook, but MPT wouldn't import it.....

Well I don't know for sure how to check the format type but I do know that you select the default format you want when you install mpt. You can choose outlook or bvrp(something like that) format. I usually use the bvrp and it saves my contacts to a spread sheet...then when i re-upload they are still in groups. Ill look for something that you can check or change the format.
