Hi there I'm in a pretty bad mood. Someone stole my cell phone yesterday. I'm wondering what I can do so that the phone can be traced by the cell phone company if it's used.
thanks

IEMI# is the only thing that the network know about the fone but trace it for you? i don't think they will do that, so if you don't hav insurance, that is it, you are out on the cold i affraid

Sorry to hear...but at least you know this...that punks walking around with a free phone? Why not make it so they can't USE that phone...If you can get the IMEI from it or the box or the service plan you may be able to make things work...Call up your provider and give them the IMEI and add it to the worldwide black list. Therefore not allowing that phone to do anything but be locked. I don't know to much of how to do such a method but someone here should.

I had a phone stolen one time and it was a v551, if your going through a bigger cellular phone company besides a local hey usually will have your IMEI on file and under your telephone records, if they dont then they can monitor where your telephone is in use at and track it down from the next phone call. If you do have Cingular, ATT, T-Mobile, or any other bigger company its almost guarnteed that you can find it but if you have a local cellular company the chances are alot more slim.

Well we have the only phone compnay here at the moment cable and Wireless, I'll ask them to track it via the IMEI number because i was quite sure that they could of done that.
But thanks, yeah these guys are the largest in the Caribbean and one of the largest in UK also. Cingular is set to open shop in a few weeks so I'll be looking to switch if rates and incentives are better, thanks for all you guys help

The only country i know of enforcing this barring policy is UK, once you report it stolen, they'll get the IMEI# and next time that fone on the air they will block it. There are people bought fone like that with out knowing and find out later about it so they asked question of how to change IEMI# to avoid being barr, but most of the time the theift himself want to know how and ask the question. I don't mean to offended any one , i'm just stating the truth here.
