Alright theres a few questions and opions im trying to get outta this post so try and help me out.

Alright 1st question.

1. I currently have a Sony Ericson t616 phone and my friend has a v600 that hes going to sell to me. I can throw the cingular sim card in there correct? no problems no questions? and it will work perfectly?

2. Should i even waste my money on the v600, im getten it for 40 bucks.. but i was thinken should i just spend a little more and switch to t-mobile so i can get the sidekick2. Is it worth it??

3. And if i need to unlock or activate the v600 phone b4 im able to throw my sim card in and have it work properly. How do i do this??

thanks. guys.

1. If your sim card is still active and your friend's V600 is not locked to any provider other than Cingular, you are good to go.

2. I, too, was looking into getting the sidekick 2 from t-momo. I believe the phone will work provided it is unlock. However, you maybe limited to just making/receiving calls, and sms text message only. Internet service may need function as it is a T-momo phone. I would double check on that.

3. You do not need to active the V600 phone itself. Just make sure the phone is not locked. You still should be ok if the phone is from cingular and is locked to cingular. I assume you currently have cingular as your provider?
To unlock the phone, you have couple of methods. Starting from very unlikely.
1. Call motorola or phone's provider to obtain the subsidy code.
2. Buy a smart clip ($400 + -)
3. Buy some calculate codes to unlock the phone. Not 100% safe proof.
4. Fork out roughly $25-$40 to have someone who has a smart clip to unlock it for you. Local non-cingular store.

Is there anyway it can stop working, once i put my SIM card in, Can it be shutoff from working or anything or once my sim is in its mine?

O and what other cool things can u do?? besides codes like unlocking phones? is there codes to do any other cool things on a v600. I dunno if im allowed to talk about codes? if not ill delete this post. but i was just wondering cuz i just heard about codes or sumthen.

Also how hard is it to switch from ur cingular contract to a Tmobile sidekick2 contract and stuff, Cuz i think thats what i want to do. Anyway to unlock a sidekick2? and throw in a cingular sim card?? or anything to make it easy.

I do not hav any codes to unlock moto phones. The smart clip is a device that plugs in the phone and reads the internal memory of phone. This all happens in mere seconds.

If you want to learn more about modifying moto phones, checkout the mtorola talk forum.

Good luck.

Are you talking about switching phones or switching providers? You basically can use any gsm unlock phones with your cingular chip.

Sidekick internet can only be used with T-Mobile at this time because it is a T-Mobile/Danger joint venture. I would pick up the V600 for 40$ even if you cant use it you can sell on ebay for 4-5 times that lol. And if you change to T-Mobile you could have it as a back up incase something happened to you sidekick.
