my phone appears to have just "stuck" and i cannot unlock it at all, consequently cannot receive or make phone calls, messages etc. There doesn't appear to be anything physically wrong with it. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a cure!!???

Did you use keylock with security code?
if so you can try the following step else you have sent back to Nokia Care Centre
Steps
1) Switch off your phone.
2) Take out the battery.
3) Wait for 30 mins.
4) Put your battery back.
5) Try unlock with your security code.
These steps are given in Nokia site
Good luck

Yes, it did happen to me just last Sunday. The day before, I reformat my phone. Before I froze on me, I inserted my friend's sim card cuz I was going to give her some of my musics...& dang it right after that, the phone wouldn't do anything. I was mad...But I just took out the battery and put it back on...and it worked...

Hi I have a Nokia 6600, and mine is doing the same thing!!!! Yesterday I couldn't access the call log, as I went in to it it came straight back out again. Now when someone calls me it rings once and then appears to switch off then after a little while beeps then comes on asking for lock code. I enter it, it comes back on and then it will do it again if someone rings. Also if I try to access messages etc or call anyone it does the same. The only thing I can think is yesterday it said something briefly about an application and then switched itself off. I don't have any extra applications on there. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks
Anna

Could be a faulty phone. A Nokia Care Center is the best solution, they can test the phone and say what really is messed up.
