Hello, I just recently flashed/flexed my motorola v300 to v600 software. I was told that doing so would eliminate the need to enter in the subsidy password, however "enter subsidy password" screen is still coming up. My question is: Is the subsidy password something that is dedicated to the actual phone, or is it something that would change now that I have upgraded the software/firmware? A newbie question I know, but thanks for the help in advance!

Was your phone locked before?

yes it was. I tried entering what I thought was the subsidy password, to the point where the phone switched to the "contact service provider" I tried deleting the secure_int (not exact file name) as instructed in a different thread, but that didn't seem to work either. As a last resort I flashed/flexed the phone to v600 software/firmware. Unfortunately it's still locked. If I put my cingular sim card in the phone and leave it on for about an hour, it asks for the subsidy password again... I thought that I had taken the correct steps, but apparently not?

My orginal assumption is that you can't unlock the phone by flashing it. You would need a subsidy code or a smart clip to unlock it.
However, I have heard that you can unlock the phone by flashing with a newer flash file. I don't know what they are, however.
If I get you correctly, you can insert another sim card and am able to use the phone to make and receive calls up until the hour when it ask for the code?

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I cannot make any calls whatsoever. When I put my simcard in the phone, it says "contact service provider" However, if I leave the phone on for about an hour, it will then ask me for the subsidy password again. Does anyone know which flash file would unlock the phone? Maybe 55R will do the trick...

Did you try to punch in the subsidy code? How many tries did you attempt to enter it?

I unfortunately do not have the subsidy code... I'm trying to get in touch with the person who gave me the phone, but I haven't been able to. I'm anxious to try out the phone so I was trying to get it unlocked in the meantime.
