is it possible to upgrade the T720 to T720i through firmware flashing? I have heard the T720 has more memory than the T720i. For example, the phone book for the T720 has more memory becuase the T720i has MMS and the T720 doesn't. Please advise.

the t720 does have more phonebook space because it doesnt have a camera in the CDMA version, and theres no MMS.
now the hardware is different for the CDMA and GSM phones. since the t720i is GSM, its hardware is completely different from the CDMA.
as for GSM to GSM changes, im not too sure about the technical details, but i know that it isnt possible. it's the same with the V60/V60i. the V60 has 4 MB and the V60i has 8. either way im pretty sure it can't be done.

I've heard of people flashing their V60's to V60i's. I haven't actually had any experience with it, but I know that it is possible.

You can flash a T720 to a T720i. If someone had the right "information" they could make a T720 into a T720i. I don't think that you can do it by reading a T720i and then flashing the T720 with its dump, but it can be done.
Obviously this is only between the T720/T720i GSM phones. They are identical, including the memory. Motorola didn't develop 2 seperate phones for the T720/T720i.

In the instructions for flashing our programs it says that doing so will result in a dead phone. I don't think I'll try that anytime soon.

Not only is it possible to convert a T720 to a T720i, it's an officially supported service in Europe. Cell phone providers will do the switch for you. I don't know of anyone who will do it with the U.S. GSM models, but technically they are also identical except for the frequencies on which they broadcast.
Now, if anyone could tell me how to convert a T720i to a T720, then I'd be interested. I have no interest in using a phone as a (bad) camera, but I'd sure like to have the extra memory for everything else.
