I need a data cable for my V551. Red a lot of issues on having troubles with cable/BT/software, hence the question: Can anybody recommend any particular cable model / software combination?

The things I’m intended to do is not only transfer mp3s, photos and videos, but also be able to get use of optcodes and stuff.

Does the cable type matter in this case?

Thanks in advance.

Most of us shop on ebay for their data cable. It is generic but works. It will save you some money from getting a Motorola cable. Just make sure the cable is a usb dat cable for the particular model phone.

Do not get a charging usb data cable!!

P2KTOOLS!!! www.motomodders.net - You can DO ANYTHING WITH THE V551!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Change skins
Remove built-in images & ringtones
Free up like 1.5 MB of space!!!
Change the outer screen when open from cingular to ANYTHING you want (My friend has "-edited-" I have "Ness!")
You just have to be careful- Good luck!

Thanks. I am watching some cables on e-bay. The Q is which type to look for. For example, when I bought my X426 generic cable from the e-bay, it worked fine , untill I found out that to unlock my phone I would need an OEM one icon_cry.gif To avoid this disaster for this time, I decided to ask first.

I found alot of trouble with software that comes with the cables. I just use P2KTools to rip images and video, you can also put your own stuff on.

I should put a short and sweet P2KTools guide up to give you the safe and simplest ways to do anything you want with it

Does anyone know how much you can do over Bluetooth versus the USB cable? Can you run tools like P2k over Bluetooth, or does it require the USB cable?

Thanks!

in the P2Ktools software, there is no option to hook it up via bluetooth, I would reccomend a OEM motorola data cable- If you can only find one that has a spot for a charger, thats ok, just dont flash or flex the phone with it (Flashing and flexing are VERY dangerous and I would not reccomend it anyway)
You can find the latest version of P2kTools at www.motomodders.net - just sign up for the forums and you can accsess the download area- They also have a HUGE knowledge base with FAQ's for doing anything you want with with a motorola phone

Ok with bluetooth you can transfer games, pics, tones, and movies. And basically thats it. With the data cable you can do all sorts of things such as flash/flexing wallpapers ringtones and what not. So bluetooth is more convenient but the USB cable is more advanced, moreover thats why I prefer USB as I mod the life from my phones
