Heres the best way to look at it:

ATTWS was giving away things for free all the time. They didnt charge for incoming text. But, if you look at Cingular's sms plans vs attws' sms plans, youll see a difference.

For example:
attws 25 messages $2.99
cingular 50 message $2.99

The text message plans we have available are double for the same price to cover the receiving text.

customer service, why dont they work nights and weekends?

oh, dont forget, I have a second line, which my cntract says is 19.99 for it, and guess what, my bill just came in and they are charging me 40 for the line with taxes and who knows what else. i rarely use that line, only for emergencyes for the family, so, no internet access, no text messages, so, where are those 10 extra bucks are coming from? I was gonna call them today, but since I'm busy must of the day to try and call them, and since they dont work night and weekends, I'll see what can I do

We do work nights and weekends. I am a CSR and I am here till 12am M-F. We have a crew that works weekends nationwide.

Your second line will be 19.99 per month for any rate plan under 69.99. Before 2/11/05 the 2nd line was 9.99 on the 59.99 plans. It's since gone up.

Your first bill is usually higher. With Cingular you pay in advance a month. Let's say your bill cycle is on the 5th of every month. You start service on ..... lets say 4/1/05

On the 5th, your cycle will close and you'll get a bill days later. Your bill will reflect the 19.99 price for 4/2/05 - 5/1/05. This is advanced billing. You're paying a month ahead. Here's the tricky part. Since you are being billed in advance, have you gotten a chance to pay for the 6 days you were in service from the 1st to the 5th? Nope......

The service from the 1st to the 5th gets prorated. That'll end up being 3.99 for those 6 days.

3.99 - 6 days of service that you haven't paid for yet
+19.99 - 30 days of service for the month ahead
+Taxes and Regulatory Fee's
+Activation fee's. Regardless of who you do business with, if you start a new line, you're activating a new phone...hence an activation fee. It's in every service providers CONTRACT that should be read before being agreed to verbally (our Interactive Voice Response system IVR) or on paper in the store.

The first bill will always be higher your first month of service because: TADA! you're paying for a month ahead and however long you were in service before your cycle closed.

All of this information is provided to you at the Point of Sale. If it isn't you go back to the point of sale's Manager and get everything in order.

When you get your statement, LOOK at it. Read the dates. Don't get frustrated and go on a rampage on the phone with a CSR who's never met you, yet there to help in questions you have.

Day in day out I get ticked off customers who place all the blame on the individual listening to you. Will we help? Sure. That's our job. Will it make things more productive with someone screaming your ears off? No. We don't get paid enough for that.

If customers would, "read" their contracts and not get phone happy and hurry to get out of there to use their prized possession, you'd be fully aware of what's to come in the future.

Pardon BigRuss, his grammar skills are limited.

What he was trying to say is that with ATT, the incoming messages were free, but the Txt Packages were quite high for little messages.

19.99 for 1000
vs.
19.99 for 2500.

Cingular has offset some of these charges for the packages. Understandable the Pay Per Use is .10 incoming and outgoing but that is why we offer packages.

when I called last sunday, they said that nobody was available at that hour, and to call them M-F

so, I guess that there's another lie from cingular when I switched, anyway, my contract says one price, and if they dont keep the price, well, there's gonna be a problem

yes, I read the contract before I signed, and it states 39.99 for the first line and 19.99 for the second line, but lets see how it goes, thanks

I posted this on another thread earlier but feel that it would help here greatly. As a Customer Care Rep, I know firsthand that hundreds of customers a day have issues with their bills. I personally get call after call after call about why a customer's balance is so high. Though these calls usually end peacefully, they may actually be preventable, leading to a much more enjoyable experience for the customer. After a long and thorough investigation, i've found the secrets of the Cingular Wireless billing system. I could get myself fired for divulging this hidden treasure, but its well worth the risk. This is top-secret, high-level proprietary information, so only read the next line if you really want to know the key to understanding your Cingular bill...

READ YOUR DAMN BILL!!!! icon_mad.gif

Yes, I know it sounds simple and all too easy, but it actually works. And while it may seem a disservice by Cingular to force customers to actually read through their bill, in the end its worth the hassle. Studies show that 9 out of 10 customers have a better understanding of their balance after "opening their damn eyes and reading the f@!#ing charges" (Customer Reports, December 2004). It also makes the rep's job easier, enabling them to answer questions about a specific charge rather than run down the whole bill, taxes and all...and yes, there are taxes, in case you were unaware (I can explain this later, if you wish).

If anyone would like more surprising, yet insightful information such as this, please feel free to reply to this post.

newgijane dont worry about what these BRAINLESS Cingular reps have to say. The bottom line is that Cingular Wireless SUCKS!!!!!!! Every time you call customer service you get someone who speaks broken english and you can barely understand them, also just like the reps that posted earlier you get this" who cares, so what" attitude. Not to mention 80% of the time you try to make a call you get this nerve racking fast busy singnal and your phone sayes CALL FAILED. As for feeble since you Know so much about "Wizards and Mystical Elves" why dont you go play some more Dungeons & Dragons, or since your so unhappy with your $10 an hour go find another job!!! icon_mad.gif
