I am having problems with Bluetooth serial connectivity with Nokia 6670 using the Standard Widcomm bluetooth dongle. Basically, the problem is that while enumerating the services offered by the phone the Bluetooth serial port is not listed, while the same is listed if the services offerd by a Noika6600 are enumerated by the Bluetooth software. Now 6600 connectes to the PC via MRouter using bluetooth which sets-up a dedicated Bluetooth serial link (Much like a TCP Connectio that stays till the lifetime of the conenction session). The problem is that if 6670 doesn't offer Bluetooth serial port capability, how can I setup a dedicated bluetooth connection to take a backup of the phone or to browse the phone filesysystem on the PC, as all this possible in case of Nokia 6600 using the PC Suite. Please help...

The 6670 does offer it, but you've probably haven't configured one in the Bluetooth settings of your computer correctly for the 6670 (but did for the 6600).

You might need to set it manually. Or with the settings-wizard of the Widcomm-software.

And you know, that both phones need different PC Suites?

And don't forget:
You can have only one bluetooth connection at a time!

A maybe usefull links:

If this all won't help: could you maybe descripe your steps more exactly? icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks for the reply
Well, I know that the phones require different PC Suites and also that only one device can connect at a time. I have installed the PC suite for 6670. To connect to a bluetooth device, you have to first discover the device and then the Widcomm software lists the services offered by the device (which in this case comes out only to OBEX File transfer, OBEX object push, and dialup networking, PIM syncronization). In case of 6600 (seperately) the services listed contain the above three and also Blutoothe serial port, and a host of other services like PIM synchronization etc. As far as I know, when you connect the phone for the first time, some Mrouter support components are downloaded to the phone to help establish a Serial connection (this happens in case of both IR and Bluetooth). The problem still remains that with 6670, the services listed don't contain Bluetooth serial port. On the PC, I have configured the service for sure. Please provide the neccessary steps if possible. Thanks once again. icon_smile.gif

It's a long time ago that I used Widcomm drivers.
But somehow you normally should be able to add a serial connection manually by creating virtual COM ports within the Widcomm drivers.

Sorry that I can't be more helpful.

Ever thought about getting the Microsoft drivers which are included of SP2 for WinXP?
They are much easier to configure...

No probs, But just one more time, I would request you to think it the other way. I mean, the problem (seemingly) is not at the PC side, so whatever be the driver, it should behave more or less the same way. The problem , as it seems to me, is on the Phone's end. I mean, are there any special settings (or software components) that need to be configured on the phone, so that it starts offering Bluetooth serial port service. Sorry, if I am being too persistent. Thanks for responding icon_smile.gif

No, nothing to configure.

And as I said:
The phone does support it. The problem has to be on the copumters side.

If you still think, it's the phones fault:
Do a deep reset, this will install the complete Symbian OS again and delete everything on the phone. This should make sure, that everything will work.
