As a Customer Care Rep, I know firsthand that hundreds of customers a day have issues with their bills. I personally get call after call after call about why a customer's balance is so high. Though these calls usually end peacefully, they may actually be preventable, leading to a much more enjoyable experience for the customer. After a long and thorough investigation, i've found the secrets of the Cingular Wireless billing system. I could get myself fired for divulging this hidden treasure, but its well worth the risk. This is top-secret, high-level proprietary information, so only read the next line if you really want to know the key to understanding your Cingular bill...

Yes, I know it sounds simple and all too easy, but it actually works. And while it may seem a disservice by Cingular to force customers to actually read through their bill, in the end its worth the hassle. Studies show that 9 out of 10 customers have a better understanding of their balance after "opening their damn eyes and reading the f@!#ing charges" (Customer Reports, December 2004). It also makes the rep's job easier, enabling them to answer questions about a specific charge rather than run down the whole bill, taxes and all...and yes, there taxes, as I mentioned in a previous post.

If anyone would like more surprising, yet insightful information such as this, please feel free to reply to this post.

I would like to see a demo-bill...

I know how the german bills look like, but I've no idea how US bills look like...

I can't imagine it is that difficult that many people do have problems.

Thanks icon_smile.gif
Very informative!

My opinion:

T-Mobile is close to a german cellphone bill (maybe because they are a german company?). Easy to understand and not to much confusing information.

I liked the Roger Wireless bill... easy to understand.
Nothing to complain, nothing to praise

Cingular is a bit weird... yes, I can understand these people... but with a bit time it should be easy to understand. Way too much different taxes...
It's easy to get lost in this jungle of figures.

Thank god, german cellphone bills ain't that complicated! icon_biggrin.gif
But once again I'm shocked how expensive text messages are in Germany compared to other countries icon_blink.gif

Bjoern, what are they charging you in Germany for text messages??? Canada is 0.15$ (if you pay per use), packages are 2$ for 25 messages or 5$ for 75 (both packages come with 2500 received for free I believe).

They charge 0,19 Euro (~0,25 US$), 0,39 for a MMS (0,51 US$).

Some provider do offer packages, but not all...

Getting a phone is quite easy and cheap, but they charge alot (you pay for the phone that way...).
