My wife's has loved her Motorola T720 to death. Litterally. I really like these phones and tried lifesaving surgery on mine which turned into a '2 piece' last month. Unfortunately the new case broke on the first drop and we're not going to try that again.
I have an old Sony T68i that we used when we were on AT&T. I tried to swap the Cingular SIM from the T720 to the T68i but the screen said 'insert correct SIM'.
Sorry for my ignorance but I know nothing about unlocking phones. Is that something that I would have to do to make this work?
Any help is appreciated.

yes but you will need to have the phone unlocked... do a google search on "T68i SIM unlock" ...copy and paste with the quotes in the search box

I did the search and few things came up, most of them pointed to buying a data cable (since the T68i is no longer on any network).
One search came up with a guy selling phone unlocking on eBay for about $10. I think that might be the best way for me to go.
Thanks for the help.

From my friends and my personal experience with unlocking of Motorolas, remote unlocking doesn't really work unless they can give you a subsidiary code. That's the case if your phone asks for a sub code.
For $10, is the guy offering cable unlocking or remote unlocking? For cable unlocking, he'll probably want you to send the phone to him to unlock. In this case, I am not sure if it's safe. As for the remote unlocking, that's the sub code I was telling you about.
I would ultimately recommend you going to a local dealer, preferrably a master dealer, in your area and get them to unlock that phone for you.
Good luck!

You're right. He did ask for me to send the phone, without SIM. He had about 200 positive reviews. I sent the phone out last week and he's already sending it back.
I should get the phone Monday/Tuesday and I'll follow up with a post.
How would I got about finding a master dealer? I've never noticed that term before. I ususally buy my phones at the service provider store or website. I always thought those other stores were not as good or didn't know as much.

Got my phone back today (sent it on Friday).
After a few anxious seconds...it fired up, recognized the SIM and then found the Cingular network.
Made and received calls just fine too.
Not bad for $10+ shipping!
