1st off I am not having "emotional outbursts", I am trying to get MY point across and since I'm typing on a keyboard where you can't hear the reflections in my voice I will emphasize a specific word to get my point across.

2nd, I was NEVER "asking for help", I found the board and was excited to find that we were not the ONLY ones having problems with the stupid company. I was just posting to say how glad I was that I was able to find information I needed. I NEVER asked for "help", I sure as hell do NOT need "help", I take care of things on my own. I KNOW the company is in the wrong. They would have been more than happy for my mom to drive to the next town over to one of their stores and THEY would get her a new number. The problem is the emplyees at those stores are ignorant too. We had already been to the store they wanted us to go to and the girl said she couldn't do it that day and that we should just call customer service ourselves because that is ALL she would be doing.

If I wanted "help" I would have said "oh, please HELP me, I'm a idiot and can't figure anything out for myself". THAT was not the case, I was just rejoicing in that others knew how we were feeling and could understand what hastles we were going through.

And as far as me "being in a glass box", sorry but the forums I post in DO reach a LOT of people all over the world but mostly in the US. So Yes, MANY ladies did read my posts and that was my goal.

Your not having emotional outbursts? omg are you serious. thats the funniest thing i've read all day. All you do is sit at your computer and bitch, bitch and bitch some more. Do you ever just shut up and realize that you've been told numerous times by Cingular reps, and also people here on this forum who have given you more valid reasons as to why maybe your not able to get a local number for a certain area. I sit here and laugh. i mean i have co-workers standing around my desk reading how all you've been doing is bitching and complaining. You've made the last couple hours of work go by fast just by reading you dumbass comments. I am not sure what it would take for you to realize how much you are in the wrong and whats even better is you just keeping cornering yourself into a corner. ... "r" i think you need to get a bottle of an alcoholic beverage of your choice have a few drinks and get laid or something you need to chill lady.... yippie your on the forum because you got excited that there are other people that "hate" cingular, but what you don't realize is that 9 times outta 10 they've accepted their issue and have moved on with their lives. Good lord woman get a life and get over your issue. maybe you should see a doctor about your permanent PMS, there's gotta be something to help with the cramps and bleeding that cause you to go on this rampage of yelling and screaming and being totally ignorant.... You must not be that literate in computer skills either. its well known that Caps are not suppose to be used because it comes across that you are yelling and screaming, which well in all honesty i'm sure you are. anyways thats my thought. and i thank everyone else who has pointed out valid points to this woman's issue. maybe one day she'll understand, probably not but maybe one day she'll realize worrying about the little things in life are just not worth it as she's laying in a hospital bed after suffering a heartattack!

I am just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem that I am. I was sold a cingular phone service with a home service area about 100 miles away and a population of about 1800 people. I was told that cingular is in the process of creating a service area in the city that I live in with a population of about 100,000 people. Cingular knew at the time taht all of my calls from home would not be made from my home area, however they did promise that when we had a home service area in our city that I would be given the opportunity to change telephone numbers to a local number. I agreed and a deal was struck, with a large expense to me. The service has been iffy at best most of the time, however, I travel alot and the service is outstanding everywhere that I go. Alas the problem, I have recently received a letter from Mr. Cingular that said that "I was Fired", they were going to cancel my service because I make more than 50% of my calls outside of my home service area. They knew that when they sold the service to me and several thousand people in my city. I am trying to find anyone else that is having the same problem, or knows of someone that is having the same problem.

many people recieved those letter. as im sure you're aware, its cheaper for cingular to "fire" those who roam too much. i'm assuming your original service was starte in a store, so it would have been at that reps discretion to give you the info you were given. someone posted that she called cingular and got credit fr her phones. you could at least call to have them unlocked, but basically, it's the end of your relationship with cingular.

I still am challenged between angry and "oh well". Actually I was sold the service over the phone from the customer service center in lubbock tx., the person I spoke to said that he was from my city and was going to college in lubbock and this was his job. He told me that he knew all about the facts of my city not being a home area and that it was going to be in the future. I guess he was in training to be a used car salesman cause he snokkered me. I was just wondering, if I cancel my contract, it cast me 200.00, it they cancel my contract, do they owe me 200.00? Anyone know a good cell phone company that works in west tx., and please don't say Sprint, been there done that.

they are letting you out of your contract and waiving the ETF. you are what's called EON (extended off network). cingular is allowed to "fire" you for roaming off network more than 50% of the time. read your contract. they don't owe you $200, because they never charged you an ETF of $200......

Perhaps a rep can clear this one up for me.

As it appears that a few ppl have received this "termination" letter, this thought occurred to me.

If one roams more than 50% of the time, then Cingular can "fire" you. Ok, I understand that.

Now, if one travels to an area where, according to Cingular's website they unfortunately do not service that area, and their online street level map indicates the area as "Partner Coverage," but the manual network selection shows "Cingular" as one of the networks, if you attach to that network, are you roaming? Since the website says partner coverage, but the network selection screen shows an available Cingular network.

Is it possible that Cingular has a network in the area, and just can't provide local service because they do not have any assignable numbers for that area/area code? Which if that is the case, could they still "fire" you for being there at least 50% of the time because they do not have numbers there?

If someone could answer this for me I would appreciate the clarification. If it helps, the area's zip code that I am talking about is 76909.

Okay, so I'm new to the forum, hello. This is my story.

I have a cingular phone that's prepaid. I'm not on a plan, but I just got my bank statement, and they have been charging me when I 'put' minutes on the phone, and charging me 69.99 monthly for a plan that I'm not on. Then she tried to tell me that I'm on a plan that has 650 minutes and I've been going OVER every month, so then we have to put minutes on the phone. This phone was only used when we went out of town, which was in July. We bought the phone in April and it was barely used, but we were still paying the 25.00 to put more minutes on the phone.

So when calling Cingular, all they've done is transferred me 7 times to other people, then gave me the same # 4 times to call for help. Then when I finally got someone on the phone she was beyond rude, and basically told me that I was stupid and I've been going over my minutes and she could look at my bill and see the calls. So I said "Well you can tell me anything, and expect me to believe it. I've never seen a bill!", and I asked her to mail the bill out and she told me that she couldn't. What kind of bull is that?!

Then, I told her that I was billed today for 69.99 again, and even if I was on a plan, we reported the phone stolen last month, so how in the hell are they still charging me? She told me that I needed to talk to someone to get a refund, and that she was transfer me again. I'm like, that's all fine and dandy, but why didn't he tell me I'd have to apply for a refund when I reported the phone.

And then, on top of all this bull, they've taken it upon themselves to charge my account monthly without my permission! So I was searching for the corporate office number and came across this site. I called the 404 number, but all it does is ring. There's not even a machine.

The long and the short of it is simple.....just like computers when they became popular everyyyyyyyone had to have one....and they were outrageously expensive.....now cell phones are the same way.....I love my job but I am sick of people whinning......and pissing and moaning.....1. you bought the phone and signed a LEGAL document....if you are too thick to read it then you don't deserve to breathe.
2.You are given a manual with your phone .....if you are too lazy to read it.....you should flush your phone.
3. Basic Law of Physics...anything mechanical is subject to failure.
4. Nothing works all the time......except customer service reps......try hugging one instead of abusing them.
5. Get a life.....it shouldn't revolve around a damn phone......and I say that in a good christain way.
