I had to pay a five hundred dollar deposit to get a phone from them. Now they are not releasing my deposit. I have since cancelled my service and was told that i would get most of my deposit back minus the cancellation fee. Here it is three months later and they are not releasing it. Still running a monthly bill and slowly draining my deposit to pay the bills. Every time i call they just offer to fill out a request form to have it released. I'm with cellular one now and couldnt be happier!

Dear Moderator,
To answer your question, Cingular has screwed me soooo badly I went looking for a corporate office number.

Now they tell me that since I am a former ATT customer I am nothing to them and if I want to switch to Cingular they WILL not unlock my SIM so I have to purchase a new phone at retail price AND keep the service for a year before I am considered a "valued customer". Forget that!!! I can go someplace else!!

Anyone know how/where to get the SIM unlock for a Motorola V220?

Cingular won't unlock ATTW phones 'cause ATTW did not support unlocking phones.

as for new phones, the reason they won't give you a free one was because they gave you a free or discounted phone in the past and you need to complete a certain part of your contract before you are eligible for a free/discounted phone again.

I'm sure no one at cingular said "you're nothing to us!" check to see if you have a signed contract, if we do not have one on file, I'm sure you can get it reverted and become eligible for free phones. many reps are happy to get customers free upgrades if they can.

Well, I certainly do not appreciate being called a liar! I have the reps first and last name and I know exactly what he said! Not only did I ask him to repeat it, but I wrote it down and I told him so and he told me it did not matter. He was a total and completer JERK!

He certainly did not offer me one thing! NO ONE at Cingular has offered me any positive solutions, not so much as "I am sorry your having a problem". Do you work for Cingular? That is really the only reason I can think of that anyone would defend such a low life company!

Oh and BTW....ATTW unlocked a previous phone I had when I asked so why would they not unlock this phone.

well, i did not mean to call you a liar, and if iam wrong, so be it. i do handle ATTW accounts and ATTW does not unlock phones, but cingular does in certain situations, for cingular branded phones.

what exactly is your situation? i'll see if i can provide some general options...

Well the situation is complicated. I am a ATTW customer and I moved from one state to another I simply wanted to continue my service and change to a Florida number. Sounds simple right? It has been one complication after another. They don't want to honor my written contract which I have. They have told me that the things on my account like nights and weekends starting at 7, 2 line for 10.00, and all the other extra's I have paid for for 2 years are options they don't have to honor. That is NOT what the contract says. Last but not least, if I change to a Florida number which will be a Cingular account I have to purchase a NEW phone at retail cost because I am NOT considered THEIR customer. No one has offered me any help on the situation. I would assume if I am becoming a new Cingular customer that I would get whatever promotional deal available, but they tell me I am not eligible!! I am not a new Cingular customer, but I am not "there valued customer" either.

I am damned if I do and damned if I don't. Why would I even want to continue doing business with a company like that?

What kind of crap is that?

someone isnt giving you the right info...in a complete sense...or you dont want to listen to the options

to clear some things up

your contract was for a service by ATT in Colorado... you want to move it to Florida... it is you who want to make a change to the service agreement

there is no breach of contract

cingular can accomodate but you will have to get new phones and forfiet what you have ...

thats the nature of the business

your new rate plan price poit will pay for the first 2 phones... additional (up to 5) will be 9.99 with rollover minutes

go to a cingular store... start a new service with cingular...once the new phone is active... call ATT and cancel your service...adv the customer care rep you did a migration on the move... there will be no ETF

as for your early night and weekends if you wanna keep them it will cost you 7 bux on a single line account...14 bux on a multi line account...if you dont want a new contract... leave things the way they are right now and deal with the situation

I don't know where you get your information from BUT I spoke with the FCC and according to the terms of the merger Cingular is required to service ATTW customers as they would there own. If they don't it becomes breach of contract (ant-trust).

Currently 5 states have won suits against Cingular on this and several other issues totalling well over 70 million dollars in fines and reimbursements to customers. This is all information I found online and from talking to the FCC.

Cingular is NOT the saint you seem to think they are. While it seems you are hell bent on defending them, the FCC and states attorney generals in many states are not impressed with the way they are trying to sidestep the merger agreement.

They seem to feel they are big enough they can do as they please.

As for the move, my contract was with a national company. What state I am in has absolutely nothing to do with it!!! The bottom line issue is really whether they will correctly service ATTW customers as they agreed.

You would think that a company would want to service its customers? They paid ATTW for there existing customer base, why would they not want to keep and service those customers? Seems really stupid to me.

So, while you defend there stupidity, they are losing in court. The courts are saying yes there is breech of contract. Yes there are severe problems.

IMO The best way to get there attention is to go somewhere else which is exactly what I am trying to do!!

the whole issue revolves around your orginal terms of service...in Colorado...you are changing those terms and moving your service to Florida...

you want a local number... that can be accomodated... but you have to give up what you have and start a new service agreement...

if you dont want a new service agreement you can still use your ATT equipment but no promotional minutes (N&W MTM etc)

in your situation service is still being provided
in either case

have fun in court...
