I have a 6610 as well with the same version 4.74 and my Stereo option is grayed out if I use a mono or dual-mono type, but works well with HDS-3. You may want to try another HDS-3 to make sure it's not your phone that has the problem. I hope that helps icon_smile.gif

You must have an original Stereo Headset HDS-3 made my Nokia to listen in stereo. There are some imitations that are rubbish but they look like the real thing, they even come in Nokia packaging with the hologram. These headsets are mono, and break very easily icon_sad.gif .

Your better off buying a genuine Nokia headset.

Try here for cheap genuine Nokia headsets icon_grin.gif ......

icon_arrow.gif Scancom only £ 6.46 (Inc VAT) Delivery costs £5.99 whatever size order

icon_arrow.gif L8shop £ 12.95 (Inc VAT) Free delivery

Nokia's 5100, 6100, 6220, 6610, 6800, 7210, 7250 and 7250i all come with a genuine Nokia HDS-3 headset (if bought new) and should work in stereo.

If you've got problems, check first if all pins are clean and all pins can connect. Sounds more like the pins are dirty or twisted.
