When I amswer a call, or try to make a call I cannot hear a thing...it is literally dead on the other end even though the call is connected...I know there can be a hex editing to make earpiece louder, but do you think that would work...or is there something wrong with the phone and I should send it back? I know there is a 1 year limited warranty on Motorola Phones...which is coming up since I bought the phone 5-15-04. Should I call Motorola to see if I can get a new one?? Or do they just send a refurbished phone?? If so, what would be the best thing to do....try to fix it via hex editing or get a refurbished phone??? TIA!!

I had this problem on a V60 but that had to do with modding the phone body, it was misplacement of the moutpiece. If you recently tried to change the body makesure all is normal, otherwise it must be some strange software error and you maybe have to hex or flash/flex the phone. Be sure your prepared to void warranty if you must resort to flash/flexing, (if it comes to this I'd suggest still getting cable backing up data you need and trading phone for refurbed)

I just bought a v400 off ebay and the condition of the phone was excellent other then a very very very soft earpieve volume. I really couldn't hear anything if there was any enviromental noise. After some research on the net and on some other forums I opened up my phone and cleaned the contacts on the speaker itself inside the phone and on the wires running to it. I also added a rubber spacer I made that put more pressure on the connections. What I did was place the space between the face plate and board right above the speaker. Wow, What a difference it has made. I now have to turn down the volume alot. I would suggest trying this out first before you go running off buying cable and such. I'm guessing the connection wasn't good enough and was causing the problem. ANyhow I've heard that this suggestion has helped alot of other people.

yea, loose body coverings not supplementing a reliable connection can do it, also dirty contacts will do it, nice suggestion that would help in alot of ways, also make sure that spacer is donut like so you don't cover the earpiece.

This is my first post and the spacer suggestion worked. I just put a piece of non-conductive tape over the two tips causing the contacts to have a little more pressure against the speaker. THXs
