Ok I got a usb irDA adapter. My computer recognizes it and everything. It also knows that the phone I'm using is the Samsung E105. Everything works perfectly until I try to send midi ringtones to my phone. I don't know if the files are actually transferring. If they are, where in the phone are they sent? Under which directory? And then how can I use them as ringtones? Thanks

You should go to your FunBox > Sounds and the file transfered should go there. Select the file, play it, then press options to Set as Ringtone.
If it isn't transfered, the file won't appear in your funbox > sounds

I read another process and it mentioned the Easy GPRS. Is there any way to transfer the files from my computer to my phone (using the irDA) without the easy gprs? Thanks

I think it all depends on how the phone handles the IrDA communication. For my Sony Ericsson T310, once my PC's IrDA (using XP) detects my phone, I can find an icon "Send Files to another computer" on the desktop and I can send files (ringtone, pictures or games) to my phone and it will handle it correctly. I doubt Samsung phone is using the same approach. I believe you have to use Easy GPRS or other program from other supplier such as Data Pilot or Mobile Action to transfer the file to your phone. This is just my guess since my E316 doesn't has IrDA capability and I can't verify that.
By the way, Easy GPRS is free and it is quite easy to use. Are you having problem using Easy GPRS?
With IrDA for my SE T310, I can only upload file to the phone but not download. With Easy GPRS for my E316, I can do upload as well as download.

Not really having problems with the easy program, but it's a huge download, and I have dial up...I also have a box that comes up on my PC saying "send files" and usually it says something like "other device not ready to receive files." If I do get the EasyGRPS or whatever it's called, how does that install to the phone?

After installing Easy GPRS, go to file, setup and change the COM port to IrDA and as for speed, you can try 115200 first and if it doesn't work, try other speed.
As for internet access, no, it is not required to run Easy GPRS.

Here's a strange problem I'm having while downloading the program: the download "completes" after downloading only a part of the file. Why does my computer not download the whole file? It usually "completes" after 15 meg, but the file is 40 meg...thanks for all the help

You are right that the file is around 40M in size. I think you need a download manager since you are using dial up service. The download manager helps to restart the download from where it stops. Do a google search for a download manager. Or you can find if you can get help from your friend who has high speed internet to download the file for you.

I had a friend download the file and burn it to a CD, but for some reason the cd isn't working. What would cause this problem?
