I have read that you can create a bluetooth connection between the palm (tungsten t5) and 6230 and use the 6230 as a modem to access the internet. This will allow me to get mail on the palm and surf the web using the palm.
I can connect to the 6230 and dial from a contact on the palm, but when I attempt to get mail using VersaMail or surf the web using the Blazer browser, I get a messages that says:
"Creating GPRS connection" (or something similar)
followed by:
"Subscribe to GPRS first"
I have an unlimited data plan with Cingular and I can surf the web using the phone.
Does anybody have any idea what the problem is. (Cingular is looking into it too).
Thanks

The messages above are on the 6230.
The messages on the T5 during the connection process are:
"Initializing"
"Signing On"
"Error: PPP Timeout (0x1231)"
Thanks again.

after thinking about this more, why would i have to configure the email settings on the phone if i wanted to JUST use the phone as a modem and retrieve them with versamail on the T5?
Isn't that what I was doing above?
at any rate, i can't retrieve messages with the phone after configuring as specified, all i get when i attempt to retrieve messages is "Retrieving failed".
for the access point in the bearer settings, should that have been wap.cingular.com rather than wap.cingular?

OK, check the following:
Settings>Connectivity>GPRS>GPRS Modem Settings
Active Access point should be Data Connect.
Edit the active setting, make sure the GPRS Access Point is isp.cingular.
What is it you are dialing from the Palm.

I posted all the settings because I had them in a text file. I realized you were using the mail app on the Palm after I posted. I work tech support in a call center, so I sometimes get distracted by my actual job. Makes me look silly sometimes.
Upon further perusal of my settings, I found the GPRS modem section. I've never used this function myself, so I'm attempting to help you in a rather bulldozer-like fashion. No style points for me today!
No, there is no .com on the end of the access point addresses. On the proxies, yes. Access points, no.
