Hi All,
If any of you are interested in streaming your own video and audio files, over the internet to your phone. I've put together a little site with all you need to know. It's aimed at education but there is nothing stopping you having a go your self, if you have access to a Mac or PC that can be seen by the out side world ie your home computer with a outside IP address on your broadband connection.
1: You would need to do is to download & install Darwin Streaming Server (DSS) It's open source so no cost.
http://developer.apple.com/darwin/projects/streaming/
2: The next application you will is QuickTime Pro for PC users and iLife applications - QuickTime Pro for Mac users. - http://www.apple.com/quicktime/
To convert your current video and audio files, then you will want to then have a look at my tutorials - http://mlearning.rave.ac.uk/mlearning/how_to/
3: After your file has been converted to a 3gp file then place it in onto your Darwin Streaming Server. - http://mlearning.rave.ac.uk/mlearning/how_to/qtss.htm
4: To then view it on your phone, make sore that you have internet access on it. Then enter the address of your server eg. rtsp://my-server/my-file.3gp
To have a look around on my site on your phone:

Hope this if interest
Cheers

One of the links no longer works AND how does this work with Windows? I noticed the tutorial are for Apple (which is a great computer), but unfortunately I have Windows and want to do the same...

im getting a treo 650 soon and am wondering if there is a way for me let my treo browse my PC at home and let me watch video's and music at my choice. Ive heard of internet radio that i can stream from my own PC, i just looked at this and havent had the time to actually read through it all. Im looking for something that i can go on internet on my treo and choose different media type files off my PC and play them through Ptunes or WMP
Thanks!

The links to this tutorial looks like they are broken. Does anyone know where we can get the update for this tutorial? Does it exsist?
