I've got a new V551 and a new copy of MPT with the Motorola supplied BT dongle. The MPT software and BT dongle come with Widcomm software and drivers. I updated the MPT software to the newest version (3.20 I believe) using LiveUpdate before doing anything. I've managed to install the dongle and get it to recognize my phone. My Bluetooth Places finds the phone fine and will transfer files consistently. These two are happy together. (All this using the Widcomm drivers.)
MPT, however, is not happy. Currently, I've got it to setup my phone, recognize and pair with it. It even pairs with it successfully! (The successfully part of that statement took 4 hours of my time already.) Now, however, the interface phone appears on my screen and always says it is initializing. Basically, I can't get the software to talk to my phone at all. I've got it showing the modem transcripts right now and it basically seems to be repeating this loop:
23:24:49,50 #### Data reception init V32...
23:24:49,51 Wait...
23:24:50,65 BR = 57600 8N1

23:24:50,98 <-- OK
23:24:51,06 --> AT+MODE=0<CR>
23:24:51,37 <-- AT+MODE=0
23:24:51,37 <-- ERROR

23:24:52,89 <-- ATE0Q0V1
23:24:52,89 <-- OK
23:24:52,98 --> ATS0=0<CR>
23:24:53,28 <-- OK
23:24:53,34 --> ATX4&C1<CR>
23:24:53,65 <-- OK
23:24:53,71 --> ATE0+FCLASS=0<CR>
23:24:54,03 <-- OK
23:24:54,10 --> AT+CBST=7,0,0<CR>
23:24:54,42 <-- ERROR
23:25:06,28 TSup elapsed
23:25:06,28 #### Data reception init V32...
I don't know if anyone can make sense of this or help me, but I've been working on trying to get this to work for 3 days now and am at my wits end.
Thanks in advance!

Ok on the interface fone picture ( I called fone skin and we gonna treat it like a real fone) click on menu there should be a drop down--> set up--> F6 general set up--->comunication--> modem exchange--> choose from list--> now on your left select motorola GSM and on your right look for your fone model V551 select it the finish and you are done it will work

Remember he needs it for bluetooth too...I don't know if that makes any difference and I wanted to know from anyone exactly how well BT works on V551. But can you do anything else like read the phone book or pics with yours? Or is it just not syncing.

OK, under the communication tab, I don't have an option called "Modem Exchange" but I do have a button for "Change Modem". (Right now it shows a BCM V.92 56K Voicemodem selected.) When I click on "Change modem" I get the device configuration wizard with options to add, delete or view properties of the modems listed. List there are "Other device", "BCM V.92 56K Voicemodem" and "Bluetooth Modem." If I choose add new modem (becuase properties doesn't give any choices similar to waht you are saying,) and then chosse from list I'm given three option on the left "[Standard Modem Types}", "Motorola", and "WIDCOMM." If I select Motorola, the only remotely close option on the right is "Motorola phone." Now I'm lost, it wants to know what ports to install on etc and the menu choices didn't really sound like what I expected.
Thanks for your time!

I can't do anything. Once I got through setup (which was very tedious,) MPT doesn't seem to recognize that my phone is there.
Thanks,
Alec

I don't know...but usually if it shows up either BT or USB it should still read as a motorola Modem, but usually when in the modem select you goto GSM and select V551 not V551m.

You maight have a confict of modem sharing. Use task manager to completly shut down BT software first then re run MPT and re do the step.Onec you have for MPT going it' won't bwe a problem any more unless you don't use them for two or three weeks then it might losse it and you have to re do again, that is why i just tossed my BT dongle away

Still doesn't seem to work. I'm getting the skin of the V551 but it never quits initializing. I tried adding a Motorola Phone modem and chose Motorola GSM and V551 from the lists but no luck there. I also tried modifying the existing modems (the BCM and BT modems) for Motorola GSM and V551 but couldn't get any of the options to work.
Old_fool, did you mean to go the device manager and disable the BT driver? And then try and setup which modem in MPT? If it's a modem sharing issue, I think there is an option to give MPT exclusive access to any given modem.... Worth trying? I'll check it after work today.
Thanks again for the help,
Alec

Okay, I've got MPT to quit initializing (by giving MPT exclusive use of the BCM modem) but when I try to sync now, it says my phone is full. It's a brand new phone!!! Also, when MPT says it's trying to sync with my phone, my phone does not display the Bluetooth icon implying that it's not really trying to sync at all - at least not with my phone.
Thanks again,
Alec

FYI, it won't transfer files through MPT either. Doesn't show anything on the phone either.
