hi

i am having trouble with my 128mb mmc card, in particular the password fuction

it works fine in my phone, however when i put the card into another phone it asks me for the password, however i have never set a password on the card. icon_huh.gif

whilst in my phone i have tried to change the password by entering all the typical 'default' codes such as '12345', '1234', '0000', my pin, my security code, and even 'nokia' - none of which was succesful icon_frown.gif

as suggested on this and other various forums i have tried to format the card in my card reader, but it will not recognise the card as present. icon_mad.gif

i also own two other mmcs: a 512mb and the 32mb that came with the phone. These both formattted in the reader without any dificulty, so i know the reader is not faulty. icon_confused.gif

i also read about installing a file manager on my fone such as 'fexplorer' and looking for the 'mmcstore' text file, however ive come to understand that 6230s are not 's60' or 'sybian' phones and therefore will not support these file manager programs (correct me if im wrong im not 100% sure) icon_cry.gif

so really i am looking for two solutions -
1: how to get my reader to recognise my 128 card, and
2: how to change/reset the original password on my mmc.

MUCH HELP IS APPRECIATED!
THANKS! icon_wink.gif

You card is lost.

Even if you would get someone with a S60-phone, you won't be able to retrieve the password.

a) the phone already has got to know the password to access the card

b) S60 phones don't save the password on the card, it is saved in the internal memory.

i have 2 wait a week 2 try it in my friends phone... icon_sleep.gif

but Bjoern if what you said is right and therefore wont work, there must be something else i can do? Its not like ive done anything wrong, like damaged the card , or set a password and forgot it, why have a change/delete password function on there if i cant set my own 1 in the first place?? do c my point? icon_huh.gif

i read that people in similar predicaments tried to take it 2 a nokia shop, but even they didnt know what 2 do - there must be SOMETHING they can do icon_question.gif

if not i reckon nokia's really messed up on this 1... icon_exclaim.gif

The only thing people could do so far is trying to exchange the card...

The password-thing isn't bad, but many people seem to have problems with it.

Some misfunction of the phone sets it on its own, no idea why. So far it has happend alot on Nokia 6230 and Nokia 6600 (and a few Nokia 3300).

I had luck so far.
