Hi everyone,
My friend just canceled her Cingular account and she has a much better phone than me. She said she would give it to me since she's switching. Will my SIM work even if the phone was canceled? Will I get in trouble for using it?

Thanks!

P.S. I DO know that it will work with my SIM because it is a GSM.

you can just make sure you call cutomer service and give them the IMEI if you have insurance on the fones so they will cover it.

Edzackery. Contact us and give us the IMEI from the phone so we make sure it's noted who has the phone.

So what you all are saying is that AberandFitch13's friend can turn on him and report his phone stolen and AberandFitch13 can be in a world of hurt??

Perhaps.

If she's replaced the phone already there is a new IMEI on her account, BUT we do have equipement history. If she files a lost/stolen claim on her phone, it will be on the new IMEI.

We cannot promote using other phones, however people still do. It's a risk the customer is taking.
