This is my first post.. I've been reading stuff on this forum a lot.
I have a V300 and the flower animation when you turn it on and off is really gay. I wanted to change it so I went to http://www.xlr8.us/hofo/ to see if they have anything there... and there was one that said Activating Custom Startup and Shutdown Animation.. but for some reason i do what it says but it doesnt work. All the other stuff went well.. like the volume and the Outer LCD text ones.. but its just the animation one thats not working for me.. I really hate the flower animation Please Help..

Ok, if you wan't to change it check out the 0032_0001.seem and theres another seem that handles the rest. But you can set the MOTO startup or leave it one the one it has. Lastly you can make a picture that is the same size as the phones display (176x220pixels) and upload it as instructed. I don't change these so search out the Vxxx tips and tricks section for more info.

I did it exactly like it told me to... but i dont know why it doesnt work. Can the gif be a still gif instead of a animated gif? Cuz i was trying to put in a still gif. Still... doesnt work...
Activating Custom Startup and Shutdown Animation:
First you need to turn off the Motorola OEM Startup/Shutdown animation.
The moto startup is in 0032_0001.seem at offset 1D, bit #3.
The moto shutdown is in 0032_0001.seem at offset 31, bit #0.
Now you need to turn on the Custom Startup/Shutdown animation.
The custom startup is in 004a_0001.seem at offset 23. Set this offset to "01" to turn it on.
The custom shutdown is in 0032_0001.seem at offset 46, bit #0.
When custom startup and shutdown is activated, your phone looks in seems 0206_0001, 0207_0001, 0208_0001, and 0209_0001 for the name of the animated gif to display. 0206 and 0208 are for startup and 0207 and 0209 are for shutdown.
If you have problems, take a look at these seems, but most likely the files are "/a/custwakeup.gif" and "/a/custgoodbye.gif".
Make some animated GIFs that are 176x220 pixels and upload them to your phone as those filenames. I would recommend that the files aren't too big or too lengthy in animation, but I'm not sure what the maximums are.
I resized the gif to 176x220.. but still... doesnt work... So i pretty much finished off with 0032_0001.seem at offset 1D, bit #3; 0032_0001.seem at offset 31, bit #0; 004a_0001.seem at offset 23; 0032_0001.seem at offset 46, bit #0. I did uploaded the seems then uploaded the gifs.. it didnt work... and I was wondering if the gifs i uploaded were on my phone and they were their (custwakeup.gif and custgoodbye.gif) So i figured the seems were in wrong.. but i rechecked them a lot... Sorry for the long post.. lol. But I need some help!

Ensure the size is correct, most programs try to preserve the photos aspect and don't resize how you tell them to. So the program I use is MIR.net or (Multiple Image Resizer) Try that and see if it helps any. But other than that you did everything correctly.

hey a way easier way to do it is to just use MotoKit. It has a option where you can do it without taking risks of messing up your phone. just you need to have the files say exactly custwakeup.gif, and custgoodbye.gif.
and have some mp3 that you want to start with and end with. you just go to mobile at the top and click start and shut down.
its all there and pretty straight forward. alot easier then hexing or w/e your doing lol.

Also, ensure that file you had earlier was in .GIF format. If not theres your problem and also the names custstartup.gif and custshutdown.gif should be the names. (.gif refers to extension you don't have to add this in the actual name)
