Who do I contact at Cingular to request better coverage in my zipcode? When talking to the CSR's, I get a duh response. The only store in my local area is a 3rd party reseller, and they know pretty much nothing. I am in the 28665 zipcode, Wilkes County, NC, and Cingular is on channel block B, in the 1900 mhz band.

Hukt on Fonix werkz fur Russ.
It's sad but this is the case. No cellular provider guarantee's service. I hear it a lot on Verizon commercials and Cingular commercials as is it in every providers Terms and Conditions agreement.
The FCC has a lot to do with regulating radio frequency but is not completely to blame. Radio towers have a limit period. No matter what use they are for.

It appears that NW North Carolina can expect little or no coverage from Cingular. With two little podunk local carrriers in the area, you would think Cingular would like to cover the area to take away their customers. Nextel is starting to turn some sites on in Wilkes county. Let's see if Cingular thinks we're important enough for decent coverage, once Nextel starts turning on more sites.

28665 zip is not in the cingular coverage area... go to cingular.com and make like youi are starting a new service...you put in that zipcode and you will see they cant sell you a service for that area...did you move there or something?
if not you are probabaly in a divested market call customer care for info

When I visit the Cingular website and enter my zip code, something interesting happens.
Instead of recognizing my zip code, it decides it's not valid and moves me to a city approx 45 mins from where I live.
If I enter another zip code for my city, (the last numbers just mean which post office in a city) I get taken to the correct city.
I thought that was quite odd considering the post offices are less then 5 miles apart.
Figured I'd share this since I'm in NC too.

Cingular is no longer going to cover the Carolinas. The Carolinas were part of a divestiture that Cingular had to part with when "we" aquired AT&T.
Do a Google search for Cingular and Divested Markets

It was the channel block for ATT that was divested in NC. Cingular kept their channel block, and divested the ATT channel to Triton PCS. ATT, now Triton was on the PCS block A. Cingular retained their service on Channel Block B.
