I have owned a Nokia BT carkit for approx. 6 mos. and it has worked great with my Nokia 6230. Recently acquirred a Mot. V-551 and while it sounds normal on my end, I am getting constant complaints from those I am talking with saying that there are hearing themselves in echo. Any ideas?

I have the same problem with the same phone. It's driving me crazy - I was wondering if anyone provided you with a solution.

No solution as of yet, however, I am planning to borrow a co-workers V-551 and try it with my Nokia car kit to see if it is my specific 551 or if it is the combination of a 551 with my car kit. I'll post my results results in the next few days or so.
Good luck

I have a Moto car kit coming (HF820 ) and also have a v551. Will post experience here with it after I use it a bit.
Suspect your problem is not the phone. I use a BT earpiece already with v551. No echos. Doubt the v551 would treat an ear piece vs the bt car kit any different.
Be sure it isn't something about the network area you are in, ie if bt is echoing during a call, try immediately using your phone directly without the bt kit to see if there is still an echo.

BTW, if you are going to do this specific test I would also try someone else's phone that isn't a v551 to see if it also has the problem. Might want to try a Nokia for this particular test

Ok, here is my experience, I have now tried two different V551s with this carkit and both seem to have the echo problem (echo is on the receiving end). I have used this same carkit for over a year with a Nokia 6230 phone without a problem. I have also used the V551 with a portable BT speakerphone without a problem. It seems to be the combination of this Nokia Carkit and the V551 that causes this problem.

BT version supported differences maybe? 1.1 vs 1.2?
Regardless, you've spotted a compatibility issue that might prove useful to someone else later. If you could post your specific Nokia Carkit model number that would be useful.

My car kit is a Nokia CK-1W which is still available from some vendors but does not seem to be a "current model" anymore. Not sure is the newer Nokia kits have this same problem.

My wife has an LG phone, mine a Motorola. When we both use BT and talk to each other it's worse than an echo. There is a screeching feedback that I believe comes from the mic picking up the earpiece audio. It is painful it's so loud.
I stopped using my bluetooth.
