What is the rebate for? What is the difference for the price now of the 8000? Just wondered..thanks!

the rebate is probably to give new customers to verizon a savings deal to sign up with them because i know when the 6000 came out in july 03 i got a rebate with my phone because i had new service and i payed $600 for everything including the $400 security deposit. and the price of the 8000 is probably being dropped so they can clear some phones out to make way for the 8100 and 5200.

being told that now that the release date for the 8100 had been next tuesday,June 28 but is now scheduled for Tuesday,July 5

verizon's employees don't get the release dates...well..that's what i think...
and the rebate...basically..up front you can pay..$200 $250 whatever the phone's price is..then you mail your rebate in..then get a check back..and the amount on the check is whatever the rebate's amount is...

I also work for a verizon wireless retail store. So far there is no official release date. I've been told by a data rep that the phone is in the final stages of testing and should be released soon. but if you remember the vx8000 was supposed to be released earlier then it was but due to issues brought up in testing it post poned it for a few extra weeks

but hopefully...the 8100 would be ready and in store soon.....
