I think i know whats wrong. I just found your other post, BitPim does not support the 9800 yet, its a brand new phone. I guess just keep checking BitPim.org for updates. If I can figure anything out in the meantime I'll let you know.
Sorry.
P.S. I do get a similar error like that every so often, I just click continue and then send data again. It usually works the second or third try, give it a shot if you haven't already.

Hoe are you sending the file throught your pc?
Do me a favor, go to control panel and open Bluetooth Devices. Now click LGVX9800(or whatever name you gave the phone), then click properties, then the services tap and tell me what you have. Does it say OBEX anywhere? Let me know. BTW, I dont see an email addy anywhere so I hope you see this

K, I think I found something to help you.
It Involves a little more reading, but someone else has an app that might work for the 9800.
Go to http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=696113&highlight=ringtone +application
Hope it works!

bitpim settings: port com5
I can "Get Phone Data" from the phone ok with COM5.
The ringer is 17 seconds, 68.2Kb converted with bitpim using sysop-x's inst'ns. When I try to "Send Phone Data" I get the following (from the log tab)-- --
Error: Device needs attention - LG-VX8100 on COM5
LG-VX8100 on COM5: The phone is not responding while manipulating the filesystem.
That message comes up after bitpim appears to start loading my ringtone
(the progress bar sometimes gets a green block or two before the message).
BT dongle on my PC is dlink dbt-120 (I installed the latest version).
phone firmware version is t81vzv04
TIA.
