I recently flashed/flexed my phone to unlock it.
That procedure went well. My phone is now unlocked.
I do have one problem though. I am using Cingular Orange service.
Using kabloomz's unbranded flex or anyone of the unbranded motorola flexes, I cannot register on any network. Under both kabloomz's and the motorola's (after using the OPCODE menu to change the operating band), I can use the network menu to see the available networks (Cingular and Suncom, in my area). However, if I attempt to register, it always fails.
As an experiment, I flexed the phone using a commercial Cingular flex. Now the phone registers quickly and easily. The problem is, I want access to the network menu so I can switch networks. I plan to take the phone to Europe and use the OPCODE menu to switch the operation band. In Europe, I would like the ability to switch between the available networks. I then flexed the phone with ATT (pre-merger) commercial flex. The phone once again registered with cingular quickly. Of course the network menu is not available with ATT's flex either.
I tried the four different flexes with four different firmware versions. The results were always the same, unbranded flexes won't register, ATT and Cingular flexes register easily.
I am at a loss. I do not understand how two flexes work and two others will not, especially since the phone sees the networks, it just won't register.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for your quick response, I will try that tonight with the unbranded Motorola flexes.
However, that doesn't explain why the kabloomz's flex, which is 850/1900 MHz, didn't work quickly.
Anyway, I will try it tonight and report tomorrow.

Unfortunately, your suggestion did not work. I left the phone on all last night. It still says no service. I went to the network menu and can see both Cingular and SunCom as available but registering still fails. Any help would be appreciated.
I am starting to think that North American GSM providers use some weird function/mode that European providers don't use. That would explain why only a North American provider's flex lets me connect. I wonder then, if I need to use a European commerical flex before I take the phone to Europe or will a North American commercial flex suffice.

Are you trying to change bad so that this fone can be use in Europe?
If so you may need to use the band flex

Yes, I am. What is the band flex, and where can I get it?
Also, the outer LCD's light no longer comes on when I close the shell since flashing/flexing the phone. Is there any flex available that can reenable the light and where could I find it?

Ignore the last part about the outer light. I had tried the Gen5 flex and it didn't work. Didn't realize there was Gen6 flex too. Used that, outer lcd's light now works.
My second problem of needing the band flex or some other solution to not being able to register with the cell tower still exists, however.

I've got the same problem, and no, leaving the phone to find service for 2hrs or 2 days doesn't work. I've also tried the 54*, 10*0*7 trick but no go. Can anybody help me out with this. I think i need a T720g north american flash and flex to fix this problem, or I also heard of a modified seem file that could fix this also. Somebody hook me up, or is there a site with a dump of flash and flex files ?
thanks
