Havent looked into unlocking the sidekick 2 however if T-Mobile UK is anything like T-Mobile USA they may be able to request the unlock code for you however they might not be able to get it. If you know anyone in the US you could try getting them to get the Subsidy code from them as long as they have a T-Mobile account.

Hey I've got a similar dilema. I brought my SideKick II from New York with me here to France. I requested to have it unlocked before I left the States. T-mobile just sent me an email saying this:

T-Mobile Sim Unlock Request
Sim Unlock Reference:  0667352
IMEI:  DO NOT POST YOUR IMEI IN THE FORUM EVER!
Unlock Code:  No Response

Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile.
Unfortunately, we were not able to obtain the SIM Unlock code for this handset. We have not received a reply from the manufacturer within the past 14 days. Please verify the IMEI; if it is the same, the only option we can offer at this time is a handset exchange. If the IMEI is different, please have a new request submitted with the correct IMEI. Thank you!

1. T-Mobile account and mobile number (required)
2. IMEI number, press *#06# on handset to get the IMEI (required)
3. Contact number or email address
4. Make and model of the phone
5. Carrier's name (if the phone came from another carrier)
6. A brief reason for the request
7. Dealer Code (if the request is from a dealer on behalf of a customer)

NOTE: If this is not a T-Mobile handset, we would need to request the unlock code from the other provider. Since T-Mobile is requesting an unlock code from another carrier we cannot guarantee the response time or that a unlock code will be provided.

Thank You,

Sim Unlock Department
T-Mobile USA, Inc

Buggar! What does all that jargon mean? They better give me that code, I paid a lot of money fot that hadset.

Does anyone know of any other options.

Thanks icon_smile.gif

Even if you had got an unlocked sidekick only the phone and text functions would work here anyway. This is because the data: ie: emails etc are held on dangers servers not the phone.
There is no-one here who will be able to unlock it for you and t-mobile UK seem not to have even heard of the phone!
Your best bet is to harrass t-mobile US to death until they give you the code, ive heard of people sending 37 emails and waiting 4 months for the code!
but remember even when you do get it unlocked it won't be fully functional until Danger decides to launch the hiptop here in the UK!
does anyone have any ideas why its taking so long!!??? I was reading reviews back in 2002 that claimed it would be released in the UK by the end of the year....hhhmmm it's 2005 now!

Yeah u cant unlock the phone here plus u need a contract to use the phone. this is because it is a data sim and all information is stored online (thats why paris hiltons was hacked)

I bought one here ingermany 3 days ago for 379€ but didnt tell me i needed contract still so i am going on monday to get one.

SO REMEMBER!!! You have to have contract. no pay as u go sim works.

I was wondering if anyone has found a solution for unlocking the cool but problematic sidekick 3. I live in the UK but I'm thinking about buying one in the US soon. The problem is that I've asked in various shops here and they haven't even heard of the phone so they don't think they can unlock it. But before I buy it I want to make sure I can use it here. I know I won't be able to use all the internet & messenger features, but it's ok. I would just like to use it with my O2 sim card to call and text.
So if anyone can please let me know the latest news about this problem, e-mail me!!!
It would be greatly appreciated

Yes we have a solution to unlock the sidekicks 1,2,3, all models, all networks by code unlocking. I have been doing some for sometime, but did not bring it to market til I was sure, but now I have done a lot, we have a 3% where code cannot be calculated. We do not unlock it, you get your money back.

Goto Global Unlock website (You can google it if you are serious)
