Cingular is the most insular firm I've experienced.
The WSJ makes information public about "insider transactions"
when officers of SBC, BellSouth and Deutsche Telekom
(the 3 firms that own Cingular) buy and sell stock.
Since Cingular is not publically traded, even that information
about Cingular's officers (purchases and sales of
SWB, Bellsouth and DT stock) doesn't exist.
If you want the salaries of the officers of
SWB, Bellsouth, or DT, just use online.wsj
To my knowledge that information is not readily available for
Cingular officers.
When Cingular purchased AT&T they presumably accepted the
liabilities as well as the assets, but their efforts
to force former ATT users off the old ATT plans are crude to the
point of being illegal, in my opinion. I keep hoping to
join a class action suit.
If they mistreat employees, that's all the more reason
to support this small effort to promote transparency.
The debt-to-equity ratios of their parent cos are substantial
so if telecomm stocks were to fall yet further from
their '01 highs (suppose the movement towards pay-as-you-go
cells supplemented by VoIP over cable keeps growing ;)
we could get real transparency, whistle blowers.
I'm not holding my breath and I'm thankful for this modest
contribution towards transparency.

All of this information is in the public domain -- you just have to know where to look for it... It's all buried about 9 levels down on their website. None of it is from internal documents -- hell, I don't even work there. Just an upset customer with some degree of investigatory skill.

Actually, the contact info for Cingular brass is VERY public. http://www.cingular.com/about/meet_us
cec1218 collected the contact info from a few different spots, but it's all quite availiable. you just need about 5 minutes of patience to look in the right places on any companies' website. Now, this isn't to say the CEO reads the email himself, nor may he, or one of his clerks ever reply. The email address serves as an outlet for complaints. A person's best bet is the National Correspondance Address. I don't have it offhand, but I AM a CIngular CSR, and will grab that tomorrow (I just don't feel like scouring for it just now.) and post it if anyone wants. It's a specialized group that opens that mail. If you'll buy the stamp - they'll pay attention, basically. If you don't recieve an answer, their determination WILL be noted in your account. Kinda like a corporate court of appeals ruling. And they can do things that CSRs cannot do. As far as cec1218 getting into trouble? I'll go down swinging with her/him. This is NOT private information.

I'm sorry, I have to add: try the link! I know that Freedom Of Information (doesn't matter whether you're Canadian or American,) is protected as much as a legal system in a democratic nation can support. Don't rag on a fello CSR - BigRUSS - I read your posts and think "F***in' right! This guy knows!" No fault for not this one - I only found this stuff because I can't get in on US deals (Canadians get rooked on cell phones compared to Americans.) Again - try the link - it back's cec 1218 up.
