I bought a motorola V180 that was supposed to be unlocked. When I turn the phone on using my TMobile SIM card, phone asks me for a subsidy passsword. Original carrier is AT&T. Is this phone still locked, or is just the password needed to complete???
Help!!

Please Old_Fool, a friend of mine has the same problem. Could you me more specific and clear ? ...
By my knowledge of English :
sticky = Something like glue/Long rounded piece of wood
thread = Woven line (for to make clothes)
... so I do not understand what you are saying ...

I have tried all of the methods I could find to unlock my V180 form the Motorola Unlock Tool to P2Kman, etc. They appear to work, i.e. they give the "Completed Successfully" message, but I still have the "Enter Subsidy Code" message when I turn my phone back on. I have checked using P2Kman and I do not have the "secure_pds_init." file on my phone.
I have tried each method several times to no avail. I have the correct flash version on my phone. Is there something I am missing? Is there another way to do this without spending $ on a Smart Clip or the like?

You will havet o use a smartclip or obtain the code from your provider.
You must have a stubborn V180 on hand.

IF you have s/w R365 it won't work, you need to downgrade to R364 to unlock then upgrade back to R365. But when time to upgrade back you need to choose the unlock R365 flash or MP to do so or elese your fone will be lock back to a provider again.

I do have the R364 s/w. Looks like I do have a stubborn V180 or I am just doing it wrong.
I am looking at one of those services where you send it in and they unlock and ship back for $25. Any opinions? I know I could get a replacement phone on eBay for a few $ more but my contacts in the phone are worth $25 to me.

contacts can be saved to sim card.....If you are comfortable with shipping the phone, I would ship to fool.... if he isnt too busy he can do for free, you just pay shipping.
